The Rocks...

Checkmate

Commodore
You know, it never occurred to me until just now that the name of the ship on the island is The Black Rock. Considering, you know, all the emphasis they've been putting on the black and white rocks between Jacob and Mr. Unnamed as of late, how does that relate to everything?

What's the balance to that? The fact that Oceanic 815 was white maybe? Is there a counterbalance at all?

So the general consensus is that it's a nonsensical coincidence? How very odd. I mean, the entire show thrives on conspiracy theories, yet a huge one is sitting in the middle of the island and it's just assumed to be an in-joke? Wot?

White = Jacob... Black = MIB There was some kind of balance until Jacob died, so MIB threw his rock off the scale. I don't think there's any more to read into it.

It seems to have been Jacob who brought the Black Rock to the island, so I don't know how much significance the name has. Food for thought, though.

I think the name was just used in deception. We thought we were going to be taken to some kind of cliff... but we get a pirate ship instead. One of the best WTF moments in Lost.
