The Return

I think it's nice to have crossover novels every now and then, but almost all of Shatners books are crossovers (haven't read Collision Course yet). I think if he just concentrated on Kirk he could create some good stories.

Fair point, but it seems that the crossovers have become a trademark of the Shatnerverse novels.

What a fanboy story this is... I still like it though. I don't think it's nearly as good as The Ashes of Eden of Avenger, though.

^ There's no such thing as "professionally published fanfiction." If it's professionally published it, by definition, isn't fanfiction.

KRAD - True. I was being a bit facetious with my comment. My point was that The Return reads more like a piece of fan fiction than like a professionally written novel.

That's what irritates me. It seems like it's always an end of the universe predicament and he has to bring together everyone from the trek universe. It gets old after a while. That's why I think he should just concentrate on his Kirk character instead.

^I'm not so sure that's all Shatner's doing, the Reeves-Stevens have the tendency to do similar things in their novels IIRC, i.E. Federation, Millennium.

^That's a good point. Maybe if they space those out a bit, maybe once every couple year (5 or more :)), then it wouldn't be so bad.
