The Return of Tiger Woods

Tiger's coming back next week. While I'm a huge Tiger fan, frankly I don't see how he will do well this season. With his knee reconstructed, he will have to literally rebuild his swing. After all, with his knee injured the past few years, he developed a swing that favored the knee. We know that in the past, when Tiger has rebuilt his swing, he's taken about a full year to hit his stride.

I'd love for him to pick up where he left off. But with a reconstructed knee and swing, I suspect he'll be "rusty" for a long while.

How can there not be any Tiger fans here? C'mon! He's only the greatest athlete on the planet!

*walks away hoping that at least one person take offense at me implying that golfers are athletes*

Even rusty, he'll probably still be near the top in most of tourneys he plays in. Since every aspect of his game is so good, he'll probably be able to compenstate better than most players for any shortcomings due to his knee.

That's the amazing thing about Tiger. Even when he has an off-year, usually because he's rebuilding his swing, he's still contending in almost every tournament.

I just hope it doesn't take him a year to find his swing with his newly reconstructed knee.

Another concern: He's in his mid-30s now and he may be at the age where golfers begin to lose their putting stroke. I hope that doesn't happen -- he's so mentally tough and he'll need it to combat nerves on the green.

I can't wait to see Tiger tee off. I think he might be rusty but I think he doesn't expect to win. Right now it's just preperation for the Masters, kind of like a preseason schedule to get back into golf shape. Also, how bad can he me. If he can win the US Open literally on one leg, anything is possible.

I don't know- a lot of pro golfers seem to peak when they're in their 30's.

That's true -- some do. I'll be curious if Tiger is one of them. I hope I'm wrong, but he strikes me as the kind of golfer who peaks early in his career. We'll see.

Btw, he tees off this afternoon!

It's actually pretty effing amazing how he carries the PGA all by himself. Last season came and went without even a whimper after he went down.

^Yes. His stardom and dominance are both a gift and a curse to the PGA tour. But holy crap, he's 2 down to Tim Clark with only 4 holes to play!

I'm a secret fan of Tim Clark, but just because that's my brother's name.

Hey mimic, how the hell are you? :) Because of you and your bro, I'll be rooting for Clark to win this match-play tournament.

Alas, Tiger got clobbered and is eliminated. His game is rusty but it's better than I thought it would be. I'll be curious if he wins any majors this year. Hard to believe the Masters is just 6 weeks away!
