How many times do you suppose the poor man has been teased for his name? At least as a captain, he should be able to clamp down on that now.
I would think becoming "Captain Kirk" would only intensify it. They need to fasttrack this guy to the Enterprise posthaste.

If there is any real justice his Chief Engineer will be Scots.
He should hold out for a Vulcan First Officer; I hear they're very useful.
I wonder if he's ever met a French Naval Captain with the surname Picard and lamented their lot in life.
