The Purge!

I recently saw these two films on the gogglebox and was struck by their similarities to Return of The Archons! Yes I know we see more killing and mutilating on the film than we did on the episode but the point is I wonder did anyone see this episode and realise how good it could it could be to use it as the basis for a movie screenplay! Only thing was they left out the Lawgivers and Landru!

The gong noise which told everyone to start and then to finish also sounded like The gong from Gamesters of Triskellion where as the start of the red hour in Archons was just a big clock bong as I remember!

I thought the first Purge movie was crap, but loved Purge: Anarchy. It makes me want to see the reboot Trek crew tackle "Return of the Archons"!

'Quatermas and the Pit' also uses the idea of purging a population of defective/unwanted people. In that case, not having sufficient Martian heritage in the gene structure.
