The Psi Phi collection thread for favourite characters and scenes

^ Not that we don't appreciate your contribution, but that's not actually what the thread is for. It's for scenes and characters from novels being published this year, so that they can be included in the 2008 Psi Phi Awards.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

^ While I'm particularly thrilled at your first choice, this thread is specifically for stuff published this year to be voted on for next year's Psi Phi awards, and the stuff you list is from 2003, 1996, 2006, and 1994, respectively. :)

Having said that -- thanks!

Edited to add: Er, ah, what Trent said, too. (Damn cross-posting....)

Oh. Sorry then - didn't notice.

We should have a thread that discusses favorite scenes on novels, regardless of time period. Ah, well...

See, that was the reason I made the comment about mentioning the year in the title. :)

BTW I support the nomination of Tabona.

done, but it seems I can't edit the title for this post. very weird.

eta: ah, it's because the title was too long.

I've just finished Day of the Vipers, and I'd like to nominate both Lonnic Tomo and Rhan Ico for best new character for 2008. I also think the scene of the supposed Tzenkethi attack of Bajor and the faux rescue of Bajor by the Cardassians was a great scene. I also liked the scene between Alynna Necheyev and Darrah Mace on Bajor at the spaceport.

I second the nomination of Rhan Ico for best new character. A creepily delightful character, and one that I cannot wait to see more of (if possible).

frkcd, please be careful with spoilers for recent books. I'm still reading Day of the Vipers and got somewhat spoiled by your post before looking away.

Darrah Mace and Rhan Ico are both quite interesting thus far (only two-thirds in).

Day of the Vipers has more than one scene worthy of consideration. I should have taken some notes as I was reading it, but I didn't want to interrupt the flow. I fully support the Darrah Mace nomination. I also like Miras in Night of the Wolves.

I'm in the middle of the book right now, but I'm having a total brain fart here so I have a really stupid question.
Is Miras
Astrea or is it her friend that takes the name?
Oh, and I would like to add one more vote for pretty much all of the Terok Nor characters mentioned so far. The new characters have been a major highlight in the series for me so far.

EMH,

Sorry about that. I thought about the spoiler issue but went ahead because I thought posters who went into the the thread to read or nominate probably knew there was a general spoiler possibility. I haven't posted in a while, since this new version, and couldn't find a spoiler button. And still don't see one--like on Psi Phi.

Can someone point out to me how I can do this, so I don't do this again.

Thanks.

Donnie

I agree with the nom for Miras. I'm 2/3 through Night of the Wolves, which I think is even better than Day of the Vipers, and Miras is a standout!

The spoiler button is the right-most button above the edit window, the yellow smiley with an x in place of its mouth.

Just type the spoiler, then highlight it and use the last button directly over the text window (the smilie with an x as mouth). Then a window pops up where you can say what the spoiler is about. Push O.K. and you're done.

EDIT: O.K. this is odd, I couldn't see Christopher's post before I posted.
