Bit of a lied decided I didn't like how the strut met the nacelle. BUT I am not sure about the changes needed to make it line up. (changed up that front area forgetting it would alter the original carefully set up joint area. Fixes were to push the nacelles forward or to squash up the forward details. I am not really sold on either. I guess another solution would be is to add in that kink the D7 and Ktinga had. Not so sure about that either. I could alter or add a mount bulkhead as well on the top and push the whole assembly downward. dunno.

Early disruptors and the fix I worked out for the nacelles by reverting to the older ones and making humps for the struts to join into.

Not much visually but a mess of small tweaks from yesterday. Largest is the lower dome. Just an idea to better match it up to known shapes vs a oval thing hanging out below the upper planes.

The original idea for the head was to show a multi level affair with negative space within it. But at this scale it just does not work. So I ended up compromising on it by placing some sort of venting system in a notch instead. With the change to the lower dome I really want to drag the whole assembly upward but it would mean rebuilding almost all of it to mate up to the neck.

Kept the middle ground height change so I had to fudge things about. Once I am semi happy with this stuff I really have to start working out the rear end and belly area. I also need to think if I am going to keep this light green gray or shift it towards some other hue or go with some sort of large pattern. I will be doing some sub plating variation but overall I am thinking of large colour changes like seen on the TOS D7.

Going to edit vs posting as these are not a real update

Not a real update but giving brown a go on the hull similar to some of the ENT ships and a few non canon designs or drawings out there.

Well not much change just altered proportions some with the way things are being built the little change meant a lot of work. So just some panel details mess of small changes and chamfers all over and that is about it.

Wow, this is looking great.

The front part of the nacelles would look great on a Federation ship too... Do you mind if I try out something similar? I might adapt the idea for my Refit. :)

any more shots of the disruptor turrets? those look interesting.:techman:
Not really as they are fairly simple things atm. Considering adding more to them but given the size to the ship, it might be moot. ATM they have no materials except the plain hull.

I guess if you want.

Mostly collapsing and optimizing objects and arranging paneling. Lost most of the evening as I was run out of my house by loud music as the school behind decided to have a concert and my ear infection did not take to the SPL. So I trolled lamo Hobby lobby looking for TIN TOS enterprise cutaway plaques. The search failed so I stuffed my face with Chinese food! HAH.

Guess it was not that much of a loss. Oh well.
Anyhow some heatsinky things, and vanes on the backside of the ship and a mess of panel bits on the head.

And no I dunno why my impulse glows are all grainy now. have to find out of it is render based or surfacing.

Yeah a fast update, more like a oh snap gotta go to bed update. Just not sure if this KSS like pattering I do will work for this or not. Made them that wine colour so they stand out but likely Id make them that dull blue. but who knows. Opinions on if I should use this style of panel? Or stick with the more canon feather like panels? KIM these are just fast cut ones and not finessed for flow etc. Ignore any badly turned edges, large on towards the back of the deck etc. About to as well freeze this area of the ship sop I can start in on the asymmetrical details.

Yes, allow me to step in and echo Roguewolf's sentiments. For years, I've been waiting for someone to come up with a Klingon "light cruiser" design or pre-TOS design that doesn't look like a D7 on a diet. Madkoifish has done an outstanding job of fleshing out just such a design that could work either way. Keep up the good work!

Well I like them and I see three interesting possibilities in their design:
1) a sort of rotating phaser strip,
2) a multi-fire, CIWS type turret, or
3) a stowed weapon, with the curved part cantilevering up to reveal the business end. :)

I like the wine-colored details. And I like them wine-colored also. Blue might not work as well.

I love that you throw in someone standing on the hull to give a true sense of scale. Awesome!
Actually, that made me wonder, is that for our benefit or for yours? Seeing a real size reference is great, but I was also thinking that having a reference like that while modeling would be a great way to avoid having details that look outsized or out of place.
