Just seen this for the first time in nearly 20 years. I swore I'd never watch it again after my first viewing, but it's not half as bad as I remember... In fact... Whisper it... I half enjoyed it! Maybe it's because of all the things that have come since and because of this episode..

..The establishment of wormholes for DS9.

..The Gamma and Delta quadrant setups.

..The Ferengi episode from Voyager.

Troi and Crusher exercising :techman:

"My Human physical responses must be blocking my [Betazoid] senses."

In fact, the only reason I recall disliking this episode is because as a ten year old finally getting around to introducing my mother to TNG, it was highly embarrassing to watch Troi's sex scenes with her. :alienblush:

You know what's funny? Almost the same thing happened to me.

My mom watched TNG with me sometimes (she didn't really like it, just for something to watch I guess) and this episode came on once, and it's the first time she actively asked me to change the channel . I wasn't really embarrased as I didn't care (I think I was around 14?) but it did leave a sour taste in my mouth. Too bad the delta quadrant ferengi were introduced in this lame episode.

Nothing wrong with having a personal "guilty pleasure" episode. I've always liked bipolar Troi in "Man of the People" and the fanboy wankery of "The Chase", even though I know those episodes are ultimately rubbish.

I rather like the episode too, all for the reasons already listed. Plus it's funny seeing Lloyd Braun on Star Trek. :P

I think it's probably the worst episode of season 3, but more because that's such a strong season than because it's simply terrible. I listed it in my bottom 5 least favourite episodes because it's one of the few episodes I disliked that I can remember. There are probably many others I would hate more if I saw them again.

Man of the People IS rubbish. The Chase, on the other hand, is great. :techman:
