The Peripheral

There was a show cancelled after two seasons on STARZ called Counterpart. It was an analog version of the same thing. Two worlds are created on the same time line with the connection between the two in East Germany. One world suspects the other sent a pandemic on purpose to take the resources of the plague world. It was too bad it got cancelled. My STARZ subscription got cancelled when they got rid of the show.

Adult scifi.

One of the best 5 genre series the last few years.

Not quite cyberpunk, but a maturation of Gibson's well-known writing. 8 episodes is criminally short.

And also League of Their Own which they cancelled, uncancelled and have now cancelled again.

Plenty more to come in the weeks ahead, no doubt.

Oh ffs! I only watched cause it was renewed. Now I just wasted my time for a worthless incomplete series. I will never get those hours of my life back, not to mention the mental fk up of not knowing the ending now.

I haven't been paying attention that much to the strike... Are these show cancellations just simply because of the lost time, uncertainty... or are studios doing it to threaten/strong-arm a settlement?

My guess it is a combination of uncertainty and a tactic to get the strike to end in the studio's favor. If a show is popular and would still make the studio money when the strike ends, then the show will most likely get renewed down the road. The studio would want to wait and see what the strike settlement brings, then renegotiate with the talent accordingly so the studio can still make a profit after the strike is over.

 I'm glad I watched. It was interesting and entertaining. Time well spent. Sad it won't continue
How can it be time well spent if there is no ending? that is awful, non-endings really f's with my mind! I REFUSE to watch a series if I know it will not have an ending. These liars now fake renewals cause they know the majority feel as I do.

Thoughts and prayers. I hope you find peace in this tragedy.

You could read the book. I know various things were probably changed for the series, but reading the book and knowing how that ends might help with any completionist issues you might be having.

I enjoyed each episode. So my time was well spent. Guess I'm a journey not destination type of viewer. Most of the TV I grew up watching didn't have "endings". They just stopped making them.

I'm assuming shows that are either still in production overseas, like Rings of Power, or that are finished or close to completion, like The Boys, should be safe?

I wouldn't say an unfinished show is worthless, as long as you enjoy what we got, that's the important thing. There are a lot of shows which I absolutely love that got canceled before they finished their arc, and I can still enjoy them.

That's a shame, you're missing out on a lot of great shows.

It's not lying or a fake renewal, they changed their minds because of the strike. It's totally thrown everything out of whack with TV and movie production, so there's going to be a lot of this kind of stuff happening for the next few months.

I read about the cancellation today in a number of the trades. That being said, I'm :brickwall::censored::censored:.
Really liked this show, found it AMAZING with a great cast and really impressive visuals. :censored: Amazon!

It’s great and closely follows the books. I’ve held off on reading more than the first book to avoid spoilers. Now, I’ll read them all.

Started this series yesterday and have watched the first two, only to come here and find out it's already been axed.

What I've seen so far is pretty damn good. Chloe Grace Moretz has come a long way since Hit Girl! The story is good enough that I'll probably read the book, but I may well just go ahead and watch the rest of this- it's good stuff.
