The Passing of Majel Roddenberry

I wrote a Chapel short-story for Constellations. It made it all the way except to the book. I gave a bit more backstory for Chapel and set up her desire to become an M.D. I always felt she was under-represented onscreen and on page.

I never got to meet Majel, nor see her at a convention, but stories from fellow writers seem to confirm she was very gracious.

She, and her voice, will be greatly missed.

This reminds me of something I've been wanting to ask. Has it ever been confirmed 100% that she is Number One. I've seen people on this and other sites referring to her as such, but I don't remember it ever actually being stated in the books.

Morgan, you mean? I think PAD was initially planning to build up to the revelation that she was Number One, but when enough readers caught onto the clues he was laying, he changed his plans to avoid being predictable. Or something like that.

Why does that give me a mental picture of Anthony Ainley playing the Master in 1980s Doctor Who?!
