The (Other) Lost Era

It's premature, in my opinion, but I would still eventually like to see some books covering the time between Enterprise and Kirk's era in depth. I know some are out there, like Starfleet: Year One, some chapters from Sarek or Burning Dreams, and the Age of the Empress mirror-story, but I'd love to see the transition into the mostly-stable Federation we see in TOS further explored.

Any thoughts? What'd you like to see?

I would really love to see TPTB explore that era. It's such a blank canvas, with a ton of potential. I actually have a fanfiction concept set in that time period, but I'm too lazy to actually write any of it.

I'd love to read about the adventures of Captain Robau on the USS Kelvin in the pre-TOS era, but other than that, not really. I've enjoyed the pre-TOS adventures (Final Frontier, Best Destiny, The Final Reflection etc) we've had so far, but I hate the direction of the ENT relaunch and that's kinda killed my enthusiasm for "Birth of the Federation" era stories.

Nope, although IIRC one of the politician characters from SF: YO crops up in the ENT relaunch, kinda sorta maybe implying that it might be an alternate timeline. Perhaps.

Wow, the story I always wanted.

Let's be honest, the real interest in the Earth-Romulan War was always the Birth of the Federation, especially as it was only 98 years after First Contact and 30 or so years after Earth's planetary unification (Australia notwithstanding).

So we'll get pre-Federation negotiations, probably a look-in at the Battle of Charon and whatever actions are associated with it that bring us to the famous voice-only Armistice.

Anybody want to lay odds about how many mentions the MIA Erika Hernandez and Columbia will get?

That would be Lydia Littlejohn (President of United Earth during the war).

But I think she was first mentioned, in current Treklit, in SCE. AFAIK, that was also when we learned that UE was a parliamentary republic, as Tales of the Dominion War had established the existence of a UE Prime Minister.

Hmm, I'm intrigued. Haven't actually read the Ent-relaunch yet, but I hope the birth of the Federation does get its own book, and that we get to see the beginning of the Federation-Klingon Cold War.
