The Other Janeway

Just a hypothetical inspired by the post on Erin Grey. Simple answer for this scenario:

Geneviève Bujold has walked off the set and requested not to participate, Kate Mulgrew has had to decline the offer. You're Rick Berman - who do you offer the job to?

NOTE: These are all from the short list that used to be posted to Memory Alpha.

Guess I'm first. I voted Linda Hamilton. I heard she was a little unstable but I don't know if that's true or not.

Anyway, I think Hamilton had a good mix of femininity and 'masculine' physicality to be very much a woman and could kick tail all at the same time. She's also a very good actress, with genre bonafides.

After her Sigorney Weaver. I'm really surprised she was actually up for the role. I thought she would've been out of Trek's price range. Also has the bonafides.

Third is Linsday Wagner. I haven't seen her on much lately, but she dominated TV movies of the week back in the day, and she was the original Bionic Woman.

Fourth, Erin Gray. She was the so hot, but yet so cool Col. Deering in Buck Rogers. She also had the chops to play a commanding officer in a sci-fi show already.

I'm a big fan of Sigourney Weaver. She's a fine actor who can play anything. She'd have been a fine - if different - Janeway.

People,

This is an interesting poll. I voted for Linda Hamilton, because of all those mentioned, I could see her step into the role of Janeway. BTW, is that list for real? Were all those actors seriously considered for the role?

I would add my own favorite to the mix, an actress less well-known than the stellar list above: Tricia Neal. She played Captain Rachel Garrett in "Yesterday's Enterprise" and she had that "commanding" hairstyle. Plus, she's an MILF before that phrase came out! I'd gladly spend 70 years traveling back to the Alpha Quadrant at her feet!

Why does everyone forget that Havers was the runner-up for the role of Janeway?
I think most people just never heard of the guy. Erin Grey. I've had a thing for her since...forever.

Yes, in this group Weaver and Patty Duke outdistance all others.

Linda Hamilton just doesn't come across as a leader the way they do.

Joanna Cassidy! Wonderful actress who could have taken the role in a very unique direction!

Lynda Carter all the way.

Weaver would have been great, but I can't see her committing to a series.

Mulgrew is the only actress best suited for Janeway... Nice poll though but they wouldn't be good for a Janeway Character in my opinion.

The best actress on the list who would take the job: Lindsay Wagner. Hamilton and Weaver would never even consider it.
