THE ORVILLE S2, E9: "IDENTITY, PART II"

I expect Earth to survive. Maybe the Moclans will redeem themselves, and help end the Robot uprising. I hope Isaac stays on Orville but doesn't look good for now. Is there going to be a reset?

Well, they have to at least reset Isaac. We're not losing him.

Everything? Earth is destroyed and/or nuked and occupied, Union capital gets moved to Dann's homeplanet, in panic Xeleyans enlist in the military en masse, everyone scrambles to forge an alliance with the Krill and the Space Zoo guys, The Orville becomes a Kaylon enemy ship fighting against the Union, with enslaved regulars as the crew? That everything, or Isaac not part of the crew everything?

ETA: If they Kaylons were really as smart as they keep advertising, their plan may seek to break the Union apart by staging an Orville attack against other Union worlds, or worse – homeworlds of their foes, but that wouldn't explain destination Earth.

I'm really looking forward to seeing part 2 it looks really like the TNG episode the Best of Both worlds. At the end of the new Orville preview.

That would be an challenge, as the Krill has a divine manifest complex when it comes to conquering space...

episode 10 is titled “Blood of Patriots” with this description:
Ed must initiate peace talks with the Krill

So maybe those that think conflict with Kalon leads to peace with the Krill are right.
If I weren't excited to see part II yesterday already....

Now I can't keep wondering why. Even though I was one of those who speculated the Krill relationship will have to improve now, and it's clear that part II can't even begin to resolve the conflict that was created in ten minutes, this description leaves little room for silly magic solutions. Isaac won't shutdown or brainwash the Kaylons, they won't give up their plan to destroy the Earth.

This suggests the options left on the table should be: either actually blow up the Earth and head for the remaining Union worlds, or leave an occupied nuclear wasteland, or Isaac sabotages the attack, leaving his folks at home thinking it had gone through, giving them a bit of time before the Kaylons realize the whole thing fell apart.

Now that the neighbours are pissing me off, I wish the Kaylons would invade and take my neighbours with them.

Well, if the Kaylon threat really does turn out to be a new ongoing presence for the remainder of the season (at least) I can see the Krill seeing the race of advanced robots bent on eradication being the greater evil and considering alliance with the Union as a matter of convenience. I'm sure their bible left a few matters vague enough and open to interpretation to allow them this alliance without completely abandoning their religious beliefs. Hardly the first time religious zealots have done such a thing.

That description does make it sound like there's a good chance everything won't be wrapped up in a neat little bow after this week's episode.
I thought of another possible fate for Isaac the other day, they don't redeem him, and the Kaylon become the new Big Bad with him leading their attacks against the Union. That way he sticks around, but we don't end up with a reset button.
So basically by the end of Identity Part II, he'll probably be either Odo, or Grant Ward.

So this will be Orville’s version of The Dominion War?

All the likely scenarios seem to point to robosexuality being the savior of the human race.

The possibility of an ongoing Kaylon war is possible, but I'd be curious how they justify Earth surviving the first wave without Isaac somehow helping. As far as we've seen so far, the difference between human and Kaylon strength is far greater than the difference between Federation and Dominion.

Though an ongoing Kaylon war would create an interesting story opportunity. It would force the Krill to ally with them.

Maybe Ed will try to trick the Krill into entering the war by creating a fake holo-recording of the Kaylon plotting their destruction, which they will realize is a FAAAAAKE!
