"When two Union anthropologists go missing on a planet similar to 21st century Earth, Ed sends a team led by Kelly to find them, but the mission quickly goes awry when they realize the society's government is completely based on a public voting system to determine punishment."

A completely alien civilization that by sheer coincidence almost exactly mimics a specific era in Earth's history (especially the era that the audience is living in) is one of the most ridiculous ideas ever conceived. It's also a classic. I'm glad Orville is paying homage to it and I hope they save a fortune on this episode's budget. :rommie:

I have to admit, usually I'd role my eyes at a show using such an old trope, but so far The Orville has done a great job with similar stuff, so I look forward to seeing how they handle this one.

I keep hoping they show that side of him on the show, mostly because I'm curious how they'll show someone drawing a penis on network TV.
On CBS, they keep letting Colbert draw about half of it before they start blurring it out.

Majoritarianism is an interesting thing to cover, and the distinction between that and representative democracy. I hope they cover it in a way that focuses on the real problems of demagoguery rather than making it pat and simplistic.

Maybe they'll simply blur it out and for people who watch it at FOX or buy it, they can watch the un-blurred version.

A stark difference to, say, "South Park" over on cable, which has penises drawn on Kyle's face. And other penis showings.

With the kind of stuff Shat's done in the past, I wouldn't put it past him. Given their history, I'm thinking Patrick Stewart would be a lot more likely.
