I too like the TFF bridge, and what Meyer and his cohorts did to it a couple of years later just plain sucked.

They ended up out dating the set rather than updating it, i hate it, and that digi-clock above the viewer, WTF!

I liked it though, still like the WNMHGB bridge though, its the nod between Cage and Productions set, i like it better, although, the Corbomite Manouver had a good update before the full re-dress, i liked that too.

So yeah, i liked the second pilot bridge, and also have always loved the goose neck viewers. :techman:

Weird, I never considered the VI bridge to be any kind of bad. In fact I think that the V and VI bridge are very similar to each other, simply deviating in some colour and minor design.

TMP bridge all the way!

I prefer the stations facing out, around the perimeter, because that is what I saw first. I must say that later Treks with stations facing toward the captain MIGHT make more sense.

If they did that, how would the captain keep an eye on the crew's porn?

And how could he grab a bridge officer’s chair, spin it around 180° to look the guy square in the face, and make a dramatic point?

(Although I recall Kirk doing that only once, in “Balance of Terror”.)

I didn't mind the TFF or TUC bridges but always wished they had stayed with the white TVH bridge for the 1701-A

Meyeeerrrr!

The TVH bridge grew on me a lot once I saw the movie on DVD. On videotape, it was really washed out, but seeing it how it was supposed to look made it much better.

I liked the TFF bridge but much prefer the STVI colour scheme, and would have elected to keep the little side consoles Spock and Uhura ended up with too...

I could see updating the TOS while retaining colour yet a bit more muted. One thing you could do would be to make the red trim around the outer edges of the consoles into a form of padding in case you smack against it when the ship is being shaken around. The red railings must some sense so you can see exactly where they are rather than black rails against a darker background. Those rails could be padded as well.

Yep - ditto that. I preferred the original colour scheme but agree that red must serve some purpose and health and safety will do it...

This. Certain color choices aren't always for fashion.

In a TV show or movie, however, color choices are always made for the sake of appearance above all. No version of the bridge was ever designed by Starfleet, or by anyone else as part of an actual ship.

They could be chosen for the sake of the appearance that they were chosen for the sake of something other than appearance.

They couldn't. That's the bridge set TNG swiped to use as the battle bridge.

Rebuilt/emulated whatever. They could have done some subtle changes (more shades of grey, etc) especially for everything outside the area seen on TVH. The way it was in TFF was NOT subtle (didn't particularly dislike it except for being completely different from what was seen before and I had been expecting).
