,... and also to have an excuse to put a railing around the bridge. Why a railing? For Kirk to lean on, of course! Just like his literary progenitor Captain Horatio Hornblower.

GREAT INSIGHT!! 23rd century Captainly behavior based on other literary Captains from the days of yore,... and same thing with Commodore Decker and the shuffling of the computer disks, a'la Captain Queeg and shuffling his ball-bearings in 'The Caine Mutany'.

Excellent Spot!!

I say the less military, the better. The colorful TOS bridge, and the ST 5 bridges were ones I liked. Always felt Meyer was overrated, and had some military fetish, to the point he even had engineers shouting like army guys in ST 2, plus I never liked those ST2 uniforms, either....as dress uniforms, perhaps, but not as the standard.

There are worse fetishes for him to have. At least this one is one he can incorporate into TREK without offending parents.
