Well, I played some of 11001001 and yeah even on plain TV speakers it sounded tinny. Like trekker4747 said, if you change it to dolby digital, it sounds normal, but one shouldn't have to do that. I love these sets, but it will be interesting to see what CBS says about this and what will happen. The sets are defective.

Put in the next disc with 11010010 (or whatever) on it. Selected "English" for the language (Dammit! I hate this!) and when I hit play the sound, again, was a mono-sort of sound. Pressing the "Audio" button my remote switched it to "2. English" which brought the sound to something more normal. This does seem to be a bit of an issue, possibly mostly with the 7.1 channel. I think I can "live" with it though it'd be annoying to switch to a different "language"/audio to listen to this properly. I'm not likely to ever have a 7.1 set-up or to listen to TNG in it, but still it'd be nice to not have to manipulate the audio of the player/disc to hear it correctly. Hope to see what happens for this to be corrected down the road.

Ok *sigh* I saw no prob with EAF on my low level 6.1 system...but 11001001 sounded tinny and echoing. Disappointed, the original sound in this episode was an Emmy winner.

So theft is okay as long as the product isn't up to your personal standards?
Copyright infringement isn't theft.
I agree it isn't theft, but it's still a crime and is just as serious.
I don't know why you think that. In most countries' laws, personal infringement of IP is a civil offense, not a criminal one.

If you told a police officer that someone has stolen your DVD collection, they'd open a case file and investigate it. If you told them someone has made copies of all your DVDs, they'd laugh at you and tell you to stop wasting their time.

I wouldn't condone the actions of people pirating something like this, because, frankly, it deserves all the support it can get, but let's not make false claims about what's what, or fall into the trap that that the entertainment industry would have us believe that every pirate copy is a "lost sale". That way lies madness.

Taking something that doesn't belong to you is theft. Sorry, but it is.

Taking something is theft, yes, because you're removing it from the possession of the person to whom it belongs.
Copying something isn't the same as taking something, legally or literally, so I don't see how that's relevant.

I'm not saying it isn't wrong, I'm saying it isn't theft, and it does nobody any favours suggesting it is (even if you are "sorry" about it).

Aww, c'mon...they deleted the comments for a reason. Can we not do this argument again?

They'd probably open a case file so that you could claim on your insurance. As for investigating the crime, they'd probably laugh at you for expecting that as well. It would cut too much into their doughnut-eating time.

Wait, you guys don't put your DVD collection on a rider on your insurance like I do?

Those black panels covering up glares on the aft bridge stations are very much more noticeable now. I guess now we need some fan-wank explanation on how these things are functional pieces of equipment on the Enterprise in its first couple years.

Maybe those stations were just under repair. What with all the sparks we see back there during battles and everything. ;)

Funny, I'm just about through disc four and I haven't noticed them yet.

I was thinking more like they're used by staff to cover up annoying bits or distracting flashes on the screen while they're working. ;)

Well, I may be noticing them more because "I know they're there," so I'm subconsciously looking for them and then finding them.

Maybe they're small PADDs that crew members can attach to displays to augment them, or transfer data?

Terrific and lengthy interview with Robert Meyer Burnett here.

Highlights include:
- his determination to make exhaustive, probing documentaries, not the EPK-type featurettes that were on the DVDs.
- Patrick Stewart saying it was one of the best interviews he'd ever given.
- a bunch of never-before-seen photos will be included in the later docos, including Ronald Reagan visiting the set and the cast at the White House to meet the Mercury 7 astronauts.
- deleted scenes and alternate takes will be few and far between, as they were routinely discarded.

There's not much more new information, but it's worth reading to get an even greater sense of the passion that's behind this project.

When I put my Spartacus BDs in the player, it asks me if I want to resume my Play All from where I left off months ago. Why can't TNG remember a language selection?
With my TNG and DS9 DVDs, it often defaults to the start of the last episode I watched, and switches to German language! Not every time, though, weirdly. It takes me a while to realise what's wrong with everyone's voice! :rommie:

Section 31 have censored the recording to protect sensitive Starfleet and Federation information.
