Reference the video, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever, this set utterly blows all antecedent home video (and broadcast) releases away - a GARGANTUAN increase in picture quality.Casting the problems with the 7.1 mix aside for a moment, is the general quality of the 7.1 audio any better than the DVD audio track, or would the average viewer without a large 7.1 capable home cinema speaker set up be quite happy with the improved HD image and DVD soundtrack?
As I've already stated, I feel the DTS Master Audio encodes are quite poor - even on the episodes with no mistakes. To be honest, they don't sound that great on my system. Not even in the same ball park as a modern movie - some of which are mind blowing. I have a select list of titles I roll out when I'm running an "impress the crap out of 'em" system demo for guests!
