The official site is up at http://www.paramount.com/startrek

Re: The official site is up at http://www.paramount.com/star

Well that's... minimalist. Still, it's exciting to witness "official" progress. Can't wait for the (sadly already spoilered) teaser. I registered with the site. Was pleased to see the traditional "Based upon" credit for Roddenberry. So, "...venturing boldly where no man has gone before," huh?

Re: The official site is up at http://www.paramount.com/star

Well, it solves the discussion in the phony trailer thread about whether it's a Bad Robot production or not.

"Paramount and Level 1 Entertainment [?] present a Bad Robot Production"

Re: The official site is up at http://www.paramount.com/star

The official site uses a variation of the "machine standard" hull font from the original series (it can be found online, I believe, as "Amarillo USAF").

Evidently (SPOILER here for anyone who's really picky about such things) this is the font used on the hull in the teaser trailer.

This is cool in the same way that the JFK/1960s stuff is cool - not because it's nostalgic but because it does a little bit to ground the new "Star Trek" back in its original connections to our world.

Paramount Pictures
[ an obvious credit for those of us who know this stuff ]

Level 1 Entertainment
[ who the heck are these folks anyway ? ]

Bad Robot
[ expect a viral campain the likes that has never been seen before or after seeing as Paramount is willing to pay tons ]

"Lost" will cross promote the movie and then you have to find the pieces of the puzzle to form a blurry image of the Enterprise

^ So 3 production companies.... Let's see $150 million devided by 3.... Each of them is basicly paying $50 mill for making the new film.... I can live with that ;)
I don't know enough about Level 1, but Bad Robot is Abrams' creative shingle. Paramount is footing the $150 million for the production, and it's up to Bad Robot to take that money and get the movie made. What Level 1's role in this is, is beyond me.

Re: The official site is up at http://www.paramount.com/star

Did anyone else notice how the actors are billed on the site, at least for now? They're in alphabetical order except for Brana and Nimoy, who are billed at the end after "with."

The synopsis says, "... [A] new version of the greatest space adventure of all time...." Wow. Now that's really selling it.
