The Office-Frame Toby

Samurai8472

Admiral
Admiral
A mysterious person in the office has made a huge mess in the microwave and will not clean it up. Meanwhile, Michael has to come to terms with the fact that there have been certain personnel changes in his staff without his knowing.

Toby returns to the dismay of Michael lol

If Jim and Pam don't get married, I will die, kill someone and cry. Maybe not in that order.

I am so glad that Toby is back! He has always been one of my favorite characters. I liked this episode and hopefully no one will make fun of me that this is the second week in a row that I have been giddy with joy over Jim and Pam.

I wanted to slap the shit out of Michael. I know that Dwight is a weirdo who must always be a dick, but to frame Toby like that was criminal.

Glad to see Toby back. I think he's my favorite character. Also, Michael paying $500 for a bag of salad = comedy gold.

I found it kind of odd how Pam was being a bitch about the microwave thing, and then when she is first being shown the house the expression on her face looks pretty crestfallen. Was she lying when she said she loved it, or was I just misreading the initial look on her face or the icy silence as he showed her around the house?

Jim and Pam may not have had a shouting match yet but they've certainly been estranged this entire season. Jim was feeling completely abandoned while she was off living it up in NYC with all her new friends especially her guy friend who's telling her to ditch Jim and stay in art school.

I only started watching The Office in season 3 or so, can someone explain to me what the hell Michael's problem with Toby is anyway?

No one really knows. Though it should be pointed out when Jim was temporarily in charge of the office, he ended up feeling contempt for Toby as well.

Michael hates Toby because he represents corporate and isn't under Michael's authority, so he sees him as a perpetual killjoy who interrupts his insane hijinks with reality. And he can't do anything to him or order him around which makes it even worse! Not to mention Toby is joyless and morose so never is "in" on Michael's horrible jokes and ideas. Also he's divorced which Michael always brings up. :D

Or, as Michael once said, "Toby works for Corporate, not to me, so he's not really a part of our family. And he's divorced, so he's not really part of his family, either."

Am I the only person who was glad Toby left last season?
Nope. He's so dull! And he provokes Michael to do asinine things. Granted, everything provokes Michael to do asinine things, but maybe without Toby, they'd be a little less asinine. In fact, we KNOW now that without Toby, Michael behaves a little less obnoxiously.

The fact that Toby's return comes on the heels of Holly's departure just makes it that much worse.

As for Pam's reaction to the house, I think it made perfect sense. She was clearly not impressed, but when Jim started explaining, her love for him spilled over into love for his gift. I thought it was very sweet. :adore:

In "Survivorman" last season, I thought Jim's short impression of Toby was hilarious LOL

just close your eyes and say in a nassaly voice

"I don't know if we should do this"

It's funny as someone who just started watching recently I couldn't understand their animosity towards him. It was funny because there was this guy that Michael hated who was like just some guy.

I love this show but Michael's behavior towards Toby is too over the top, even for a character like Michael. It's getting so Michael is being such an asshole that you begin to hate him and root for Toby, which I don't think is what the writers want.

Nope, sad to see him back, wish he Kelly and Ryan would take a slow boat to nowhereville, funny that the ones who are writers are the worst characters IMO.

Pam and Jim are fun, something this show seems to be running out of lately.
