Couldn't find anything on this here... search won't work with keywords less than 3 characters (is there any way around that?).

Started watching this out of curiosity. Very, very strange. Kind of like a "Stranger Things" with adults. Jason Isaacs is in it (from Star Trek Discovery) and he nails the part. Alice Krige also has an important role (she was the first Borg Queen, in First Contact). The lead actress is quite impressive as well. I'd never seen her work before. She's also the show's co-creator and writer. Thankfully there is a season 2 coming probably end of 2018 or early 2019. [LINK]

Has anyone else here seen it?

Yes, I saw it last year. Hubby and I both liked it, in a "what-the-fuck-did-I-just-watch" kind of way. I love Jason Isaacs and he is really good as the "baddie ."

I think the next season has some rather big hurdles to clear if they intend to go down the path they set with the big bombshell reveal in the finale. But they have me hooked because I'm really curious to see if they can pull it off without pissing off the entire audience.

Here's the olden thread in case you wanna read peoples impressions back when it premiered:
    https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/the-oa-netflix-series.285424/

Since you enjoyed it I'd heartily recommend checking out Brit Marling's other work, Sound of My Voice , The East and Another Earth are all really good as well, she wrote all three of those, and the first two were also co-written and directed by Zal Batmanglij who also directed The OA.

I'm looking froward to S2. :techman:

New episodes have been released on Netflix. The weird TV series gets even weirder!

Yeah, I just noticed season 2 came out. Looking forward to binging it when I find the time.

I watched the first series and a little of the second. One thing I can't quite shake though is that feeling of "privileged girl is soooo deep (and everyone is so fascinated with her)". Behold the power of interpretive dance!

I enjoyed the first season. I didn't realize the second season was finally here. I watched only the first episode of season 2, and I was wondering what was going on because it seemed so different from last season. Then the next day I watched 4 more in a row. I couldn't stop. It was so intriguing!

Finished season 2. Not sure what to think about it. Feel like I've been fucked with.

I haven't finished it but you very succinctly wrapped up what I was trying to clumsily convey in my post.

I must say, I'm disappointed in this thread. Nearly a full page into a thread in the sci-fi section of a sci-fi BBS, and not one word about...
...The Five Movements Robots! I tell you, if the Lego Group doesn't release a Lego Mindstorms kit for those guys, they're leaving a lot of very nerdy money on the table.

It's like Brit Marling told David Lynch to hold her beer.

She could have asked David Cronenberg to hold her beer. ;)

Saw the trailer and noticed Issacs is up to jumping dimensions again. If they ever remade Sliders, he needs to be in it. :)

The season 2 ending is definitely a WTF moment. Glad to hear Netlifx is on board for their 5 season plan. Just hope it's not as long a wait for season 3.

I got two, maybe three episodes into the first season and lost interest. The fact that I can hardly remember a damn thing about it speaks to how much of an impression it made. This is just me, but I have a low tolerance for shows that are obtuse for the sake of seeming mysterious. A mystery should be entertaining in and of itself, not something you have to suffer and sit through until they get to the point.

I had a similar experience with 'Twin Peaks', so I appreciate this is entirely subjective.

Just started the second season; hubby and I just finished episode 4. I wish they had started with the kids and THEN gone to the private investigator. The pacing is all off so far -- I'm hoping it comes together as we move towards the end.

OK, just finished watching another episode.

Of all the things I thought this plot-line might entail, a
    giant telepathic octopus
    is not one of them.

    A. Giant. Telepathic. Octopus.

I just started watching this show and am three episodes into season 2, or "part 2" as they call it. While I'm interested in seeing what happens in the next episode when I'm done with whatever episode I'm watching, the show doesn't have a "wow factor" for me. For example, another show I binged on Netflix was Travelers, and wanting to watch the next episode of that was a completely different experience for me than The OA, if that makes sense.

I know the plot with the private eye is going to tie in with the main storyline, but considering how this show already moves at a snail's pace, it feels like a huge time-filler. The show can't handle the cast they started with without characters becoming glorified extras in episodes where they don't get to do anything, don't bring in another character and give him all the screen time.

I know, that was a big WTF...

I get the hate and disappointment on The OA. I'm not like a major devotee, by any means. But, I did find my appreciation grow for it when re-watching Season 1 after finishing Season 2. There's quite a bit of depth to this series, touching on a lot of metaphysical and philosophical premises. Missed a number of nuances the first time around that I caught on the 2nd watching.

One thing that really bothers me is this aspect to
leaping across dimensions into a different version of yourself. So what... the previous person is usurped? You're living your life and then a different version of you leaps from their dimension into yours, taking over your body? That's pretty damned cruel. And for all we know, the "taken over" person is toast. The only way the "leaper" leaves, is by killing the body. I'm not cool with this.

Yeah, that all felt rather like murder to me, so it's a little odd that they just "gloss over" it.
