The Nimoy endorsement...

... which I'd say is there since he will be, well, IN the movie, bodes well for Star Trek (2008). From recently watching all the bonus documentaries on the ST films DVDs again, I got the feeling Leonard Nimoy is an actor of great integrity, at least as far as Star Trek is concerned. And since he has in the past been reported as pretty much retired from the movie business, I believe him when he says, according to this report

http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/07/26/c...es-iv-and-more/

that there is "a fabulous script, this is really going to be a great movie, and I mean that." Only something worthy of the name Star Trek would get him back in the acting game. I like the idea that Nimoy has confidence in the film, as he seems to have been the one to uphold the integrity of the film series until TUC. Don't you agree?

Eddie,

Don't let these cynics get to you. I agree with you.

The script must be quite good for Nimoy to be involved and to give it his endorsement. I don't think he'd have come out of retirement for a bad script, just like he wouldn't take the load of cash he would have likely received for his few minutes in GEN.

If Shatner had demanded Kirk "ride off into the sunset" instead of outright dying in GEN, he'd be in the same position as Nimoy right now.

As it is, I think Shatner and Nimoy will be in this film and their presence will make it a HUGE event for Christmas 2008.

Trek will live again.

I very much agree. Nimoy's involvement tells me alot about what this all about and the degree of goodness that I'm expecting to see in it.

I just thought of something. What if this is a "Captain's Tale" style story. Where many of the characters are discussing past exploits, and a young cadet asks Spock to tell how he and Kirk met.

What if it takes place at Kirk's funeral, with Nimoy flashing back like that?

Ooooohh......I kind of like that. Citizen Kane is space.

I still want to see Shatner come back as Kirk, at least in a cameo. Maybe as a ghost......nah, I take that back.

I dunno. Part of me thinks he wouldn't bother if he wasn't behind the quality of the script...but another part of me knows the value of $...
