^That'd be the common sense answer, and what I'd go with. I think the bell may be such an ancient invention, and one that was likely invented by many different cultures independently, that a complete history of it might be impossible to compile.

^I've made a laundry date with my friend Nicole for tomorrow night. We are going to do our laundry and play Scrabble.

^Funner than doing it alone. And, yes, I think "funner" should be a legitimate word.
Depends on where you place it. On its own, funner is 9 points (f=4, the rest are 1). And I didn't have to look that up; I have the Scrabble points system memorized, and if you gave me a half hour and some colored pencils, I'm sure I could recreate the board from memory.
^That is sad. I play between 1 and 10 games a week. Or else I go into withdrawal.

Oh, it pains me to hear! I love Scrabble. I consider myself to be quite addicted. Plus, it is a very good way to ensure that I, what with my antisocial tendencies, get some good interpersonal interaction on a day-to-day basis. Just meet a friend for Scrabble and some coffee -- you don't even really have to talk, you can just enjoy spending time together. Plus, my friends and I aren't competitive players. We play more to challenge ourselves than each other.
That sounds fun.
