The Next Creepy Big Bad

I was just thinking Skorr might be interesting for a Kelvin timeline movie or series, as well. As would the Husnock.

Speaking of that word (kind of), I've always been a fan of a Kelvan Empire invasion idea.

Or how about finally introducing the insectoid species, Maurice Hurley originally planned as the big bad for TNG?

Maybe give them the same characteristics and objectives nthe Borg originally had in "Q, Who". Having a nomadic lifestyle, going like locusts after all the tech and resources they come about and moving on when they are finished.

And perhaps give them an extragalactic origin.

The Star Trek: Early Voyages comic series only ever dedicated one issue to the Ngultor, an insectoid species originating far from Federation space which harvested other organics' flesh. A lot of potential for an idea like that!

How about a threat from another universe? Not a mirror universe or a baddie-of-the-week like Nagilum?

Instead of an external enemy, how about an internal, ideological “rebel” group (with a rogue fleet) of individuals who’ve come to believe that the Federation is an empire constraining all its member worlds, which therefore needs to be taken down by force? They could have some valid points about human dominance, imperialism and some actual known war crimes, while still being ultimately wrong about the Federation’s overall worth and effects.

The Borg release a hot new "social media app" Called BigBorg and when you log in you become a part of Tha Collective™, through your interactions (which are highly addicting) you earn "Good boi points" which increases Federation citizens "social credit scores", you can use those points to win prizes, like a holiday to Disney Cube, a date with a cute Borg Husbando/Waifu or a Limited Edition Borg Queen body pillow, etc.

Of course, people start getting cool tattoos and body modifications as a reminder of their cool vacations and loves. :)

Ironicallly a lot of us were predicting that it might be the bugs from Conspracy at the beginning, but when you think about it you could have easily replaced the borg with the bugs, and still had the same story line, someone or something is infiltrating the federation, they take over everything and everyone, and only by killing the queen do they lose in the end.

Anyway the next big bad will be the the Edo from Justice, who want to spread their faith and strict laws across the galaxy, and all with the help of their in orbit god who blames Picard for the fact no one paid for that pane of glass broken by Wesley before they left. :p

I am kind of partial to cackling villains (because I often identify with them). That being said, I prefer a more realistic approach. I loved Captain Angel, they were the best antagonist I have seen in awhile - and I kind of like the less stressful, episodic threats. But, the Sheliak might be cool as neoliberal big bads (I am assuming their political orientation due to their obsession with contracts).
