The New USS Discovery....

Vektor is quite a gifted designer.

Yeah, the parallels here extent to the four connectors between the ring and inner hub being placed 45 degrees off the axis of travel.

… almost exact copy of the Enterprise-E's nacelles.
Both have an elongated form, but other than that I'm not seeing the resemblance or anything that I would call an “almost exact copy”. Of course we are only looking at an illustration here and not a finished effects shot, but I see more differences than similarities.

There seems to quite a few long nacelle designs going around.

Damien Devlin actually is IrishTrekkie. ;) And he actually arrived at the design because he tried the nacelles of the Shenzhou on the Discovery teaser design.

The rear end of the Shenzhou/Discovery nacelles somewhat resemble those of the Enterprise-E, but that's the only resemblance I see.

Is it possible that this was given to specific people, just to see if there was a leak?

Then you and I are seeing something different.

And everyone gets a nice clean shave for every duty shift. ;)

Do you remember when his AV was his picture? We'll go broke. Maybe a roofie?
I remember. Let's put something in his protein shake.

I was wondering if the two were the same.

Hey folks,
Very interesting thread you have going here and thanks for crediting my little fan art doodles.

I hope my image link works to show you my latest revision. It is only an idea but like you all, I am anxious to see the really thing and look forward to the show airing this autumn.

I'm going to help you guys out a little.

1.That is definitely fan art, and not official.

2. Having said that...this is Discovery. 90% correct. Saucer and body...dead on. The nacelles, not exactly in details but pretty much in dimensions. Imagine boxy TOS intercoolers on the rear of the nacelles, and there you have it.

Not a fan of the empty space. Not so much because it's different as because I think it's dumb to waste usable space while also sacrificing structural strength for no apparent reason. And it's different. It looks good otherwise though. I'll reserve judgement on the nacelles until we've seen them for real.

We already discussed that..

I love it. If accurate (even slightly) it allows for great visuals - I've always liked the idea of such a split to show light piercing through.

As for structural strength.... a split/donut hull is the least of Trek's worries! See Beyond for more information :p

This is a fan design.

Also, this Discovery design is... not good. I mean, the poster is amazing, especially for a fan production. But the Discovery depicted here as 'the real thing'? Not so much.

It's the exact same version as in the teaser, except with more negative space in the saucer (which I'm not a fan of), and the exact same nacelles as the Shenzou. Which bring the design out of balance.

The teaser design needed some refinement and details. But the nacelles which exceeded in frontal direction where a nice counterbalance to the back-leading triangular shape of the secondary hull. This design looks super protracted and out of balance.
