It would be hilarious if a ten year old April Fools Day joke inspired part of the design.
Both have an elongated form, but other than that I'm not seeing the resemblance or anything that I would call an “almost exact copy”. Of course we are only looking at an illustration here and not a finished effects shot, but I see more differences than similarities.… almost exact copy of the Enterprise-E's nacelles.
Damien Devlin actually is IrishTrekkie. There seems to quite a few long nacelle designs going around.

Yes you did. I think I liked your post. Jamestyler too.
I remember. Let's put something in his protein shake.Do you remember when his AV was his picture? We'll go broke. Maybe a roofie?
I was wondering if the two were the same.Damien Devlin actually is IrishTrekkie. And he actually arrived at the design because he tried the nacelles of the Shenzhou on the Discovery teaser design.

I'm going to help you guys out a little.
1.That is definitely fan art, and not official.
2. Having said that...this is Discovery. 90% correct. Saucer and body...dead on. The nacelles, not exactly in details but pretty much in dimensions. Imagine boxy TOS intercoolers on the rear of the nacelles, and there you have it.
Not a fan of the empty space. Not so much because it's different as because I think it's dumb to waste usable space while also sacrificing structural strength for no apparent reason. And it's different. It looks good otherwise though. I'll reserve judgement on the nacelles until we've seen them for real.
We already discussed that..
