The "New" TARDIS revealed!

Here's what the new Police Box looks like in HD. Much better than in the casual photos, I think.

Yeah looks better, still very new but if it is

almost destroyed and has to regenerate when the 10th Doctor does

then that at least seems logical!

I hope they never explain it so people here can whine about it to normal people who just stand there with blank baffled expressions ("it's the same isn't it?")

Maybe the chameleon circuit resets and scans a local Police Box in a bout of coincidental coincidence.

In logopolis the doctor materalizes over a normal police box to take measurements, mabe at a later date that doctor keep an actual police box inside the tadis somewhere incase he needs to measure again. ;)

The latest TARDIS is the exact same spec. as a genuine 1950's police box- size, colour ect. the only thing different from the prop is they were cast from concrete not wood (apart from the doors). the wood grain effect comes from the 'shuttering'-
moulds which were used to cast the sections. In reality they were used as mini-police stations and holding cells so they had to big enough to accomodate
2 grown men a table and seats- the BBC TARDIS props at some stages was scaled down by a quarter- Baker and Pertwee (6' 4'') almost ducking to get in and out.

Surprised the art department hasn't aged it though, does look a bit plasticy.:(

That was how my girlfriend looked when I showed her that pic. What matters is... I noticed.

What exactly is the significance of the St. John's Ambulance crest? If it's a police box, why would it have an ambulance badge? Or is that just to show that it'll cover any sort of emergency, medical or criminal?

I mean, what if some poor bloke suffering from food poisoning staggers to the TARDIS, bangs on the door and asks for a doctor? Would the Doctor pop out and say, "Sorry, old chap, but this isn't a real police box. Can I call you a cab?" :D

Well how many times has someone gone to the TARDIS looking for the actual police and found only a bumbling aline genius?

I don't know why it's on there. But it was originally on the First Doctor's TARDIS.
