As a Star Trek fan I am very disappointed by the looks of the new trailer. "You always had a hard time finding your way in the world, never knowing your true worth..." Melodramatic "intense" music, A woman stripping in her quarters, cut to a couple in the throes of passion, lots of explosions and incoherence, a goofy Scotsman quipping, and some unimaginative looking alien saying "The wait is over." Hmmmmm.
I am a purist(I just like TOS and the first 2 Movies, and some TNG and DS9 here and there) but I know there's gotta be a few fans like myself who worry that the new film is going to decimate the memories of the original show, especially of Kirk.
Kirk shouldn't be portrayed as utterly reckless, cocky, and undisciplined. Kirk sometimes makes up his own rules, but in the original show, William Shatner always portrayed him as a dedicated, no nonsense, Starship commander who took his responsibilities very seriously.
That's my worry. What are some other fans' fears?
