Never understood why people use the clichéd phrase "quantum leap". Such a thing is actually quite small, IIRC.
Well, it *is* small, generally, BUT what happens is an electron in an atom changes from one electron shell to another *instantly* ... and, more importantly, without moving through the space in between. It would sort of be like driving down the highway at 55 MPH in one lane, then instantly hopping the concrete barrier and going the other direction without slowing down or turning. This change in electron state also leads to 'quantum tunneling' which, in my example, is represented by the act of going through the concrete barrier without messing up the barrier, your car, and your day.

I kinda fail to see what B'Elanna has to do with this. If we're worrying about how the Klingons we've seen previously do not match these new Klingons, then certainly she is the one character this problem doesn't apply to due her human heritage.

^ I always wondered about that too. The only time we ever saw John Torres, he was kind of a wimp. Hard to imagine a Klingon woman putting up with a milquetoast like that. Must have been quite a lot going on "behind the scenes".

Kind of like Automan's car.

Its just more "outrage" because they changed the visual so now its cliamed somehow the story must be altered because it does not look the same. Kinda how cliaming they are not wearing thrift store turtle necks somehow ruins the story.

In universe explanations are easy. We'll see if they have any as it goes along. Even if they don't have one now, TPTB could later retcon an explanation the way ENT did. With civilizations advanced enough to have sophisticated genetic engineering, they could easily be the result of deliberate attempts to create different looks. I do think if Kor, Koloth or Kang show up, they should look human. Other factions, houses or sects may have refused to look human and reengineered themselves in various ways.

Why should they look human. They looked klingon on in DS9.

Because DS9 and ENT established that they did indeed look like that at the time. Obviously their previous appearance is later restored, but if they appeared human in the 2260s, they should appear that way in the 2250s. Unless we imagine that they reverted to a human appearance just for 2260s decade, which sounds a bit much.

So? Reton that stupidty out. TOS klingons are not klingons. They do not look or act anthing like klingons. They are 3 years out of 50.

STD can do whatever it wants to. TOS still stands on its own as standard Star Trek.

And so, the kink of klingon cuddle dungeons once more surfaces.

I always liked that Tumblr meme.

Yeah, the easiest explanation is that B'Elanna's mom just had different tastes from most Klingons.

Indeed, that's the easiest explanation for most of these so-called "continuity" problems -- that Klingons can be different from each other and still be Klingons.

I can see why bald Klingons could be annoying besides just being personally a little turned off by the change. Klingon's have been so thoroughly developed, more so than any other aliens, and their hair is such a big part of their culture-in universe.

We'll just have to see. Is this an improvement? Or a practical change? I like the uniform in the picture of the guy with blue skin. In fact I'm really glad we can finally get rid of those Klingons uniforms in use since 1979, but I don't see the make up as an improvement.

When it comes to rubber masked aliens, I think less is more. They said they wanted to get back to "true star twek" and back to morality plays and cultural analogies and what not. Hopefully these guys can form a facial expression beyond "scary."

Does anyone remember the reptile Xindi guy? He had so much crap on his face it made his character a 2 dimensional baddd guy. There were rare scenes where the inflections in his voice helped to offset this, but for the most part he looked pretty silly. And his extravagant costume with purple leggings did not help matters.
