The New Godzilla...

Not new Godzilla

http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/21054

I hate wasting front page news space, especially when I personally contacted webmasters and explained that the story was bogus. So here we go: the Godzilla t-shirt floating around the San Diego Comic-Con is NOT for Legendary's feature film redo that's currently in very early development. We checked in with someone very close to the development process who debunked the story immediately. Maybe it's for a new comic? Watch Bloody Disgusting for OFFICIAL news when it comes in.

Sigh...sometimes hate internet reporting lol. Never know what is factual sometimes but that Godzilla still looks awesome.

It's a little screwy, though. The spikes aren't coming out of his spine. It's more like they're coming out of the right side of his neck.

The artist tried to sort of shoehorn them in, since Godzilla's in a pose that wouldn't really display them. Some pencillers do that with Batman's glove-spikes, too. I don't know why they don't just pick a different pose.

In any case, if they went with something along these lines, I'd be pretty satisfied.

From Avery Guerra:

But TwitchFilm.net is reporting Legendary is claiming the image is "not necessarily movie related". Okay, what is it then? Are they just giving random t-shirts with Godzilla on them away for fun?
Perhaps Legendary is hedging their bets and not laying claim to the design in case the fans aren't digging it. I, for one, would have to believe that hardcore fans of the giant lizard would absolutely get behind this, as it's so close to what they know and love. How a modern interpretation of said design would play on the big screen remains to be seen if indeed this is what the big boy will look like.

Perhaps I should have added a question mark to my thread but then even coming soon thought it was from the upcoming film.

The picture is based on this sculpture which was made to help Legendary Pictures land the new Godzilla movie.

It's a cool sculpture, but I think it might stray a little too far. I don't look at that and immediately connect it to Godzilla. Maybe it'd look closer if it were a full body sculpt, but I doubt it.

Between the two, I'd prefer a design like the one in the poster.
