The New Enterprise in 3D! ... NOW FINISHED (threads merged)

I said it before, I'll say it again, I really have come to love this design because of your work MadMen. Thank you.

Want something done, ya gotta do it yourself....

I'm not setting out to stirr up shit, but isn't this Gabe's TOS variant of his "reimagined" Connie?

The only thing I'm not sure about is the nacelles... I wonder if now mine are too small? Too late to change them, though.
Yeah... your nacelles don't "taper" as much as the "real" version's do. They're the right size at the aft tip, but too small (still) up-front. It's really very disturbing, just how much taper is in those. I'm trying to figure out what the @#$* they were thinking?!?!?!

It's amazing how much a fairly small tweak can make or break a design.

Well, apparently in the front of the nacelles they have the GIANT warp coils, and the back of the nacelles have the TINY warp coils.

And in the nacelle 'hood' they have the sideways, irregularly shaped coils.

Ok, I think they were just going for the kwelness.

The Kelvin nacelle, by contrast, is just a big cylinder.

Perhaps the warp coils are on the smaller side, and their max diameter is the size of the small end of the warp nacelle. Perhaps near the front there is other equipment that causes the diameter of the nacelles themselves, not the warp coils, to increase.

Not a whole lot of progress, but I did get the sensor dome done...

And I built some ShuttleBay Doors.

And, split that big window up on the back of the bridge area in half... you can also see the impulse deck from this angle.

OK, tonight's update...

I got most of the windows done, and I am now just adding some detail parts here and there... starting to think about textures. I'm going to put alot more time into them this time, instead of my usual "slap it on , it looks ok" approach.

I think this is a neat angle. :)

You are doing a great job on this beast MadMan. One thing I have noticed you haven't included yet the two arcs of blue lights that near the front of the secondary hull (where the infamous copper band is at on Greg Jein's Trials and Tribble-ations model)

Anyway great job (though this design will never be this my favorite.)

Seeing this ship from other angles, thanks to MadMan1701A, has given me reason to like it even more than I already do :techman:.

Wonderful work. We'll all know in advance what she'll look like when we see the movie, and won't be shocked. :)
I know I'm sounding like a really old guy, but wow, this internet thing :) is really incredible....where something like this can be fleshed out long before the movie premiers...I remember when TNG debuted...what would the forums have sounded like back then? (if they had existed, ofcourse).

Great work, Madman, can't wait to see the new textures and details.

Madman, have you tried a "front shot" to see how your nacelle pylons match up with the shape seen from the trailer's "front shot?"

For some reason, I seem to be picking up on the "real" ones being slightly more curved, but I'm not confident that I'm right... your thoughts?

Here you go...

I think the real ones actually spread out and get wider as they come down closer to the connection point, whereas mine are the same all the way down.

My main issue is with the neck. I can't figure out how to make it thicker without screwing up those "Lips" where everything lines up, but I can see mine is WAY too think, and doesn't look good at all. I'm giong to work on that. :)

Not sure what you mean, can you toss in a pic? I'll certainly add it. :) I know there is something blue and glowing in that area, anyway.
