The New Artist's Thread (Warning: Large Image Size)

TSQ, I adore your art (although admittedly, the flowers for eyes theme creeps me out somewhat ). But I love your technique, your compositions, your colors. Especially the blending of art with science is marvellous and, if you'll excuse the tangent, reminds me somewhat of George Eliot who often would do something similar.
Thanks. :)
I also wanted to ask: you said you only used a sharpie and a ballpoint pen for the steampunk pictures? How did you manage to make the background look so uniform?
Patience. I go over it twice in opposite directions.
I have also been drawing for the holidays. Little cards to surprise my family with.
These are fantastic, I love them!

Wow, you're actually drawing eyes closer together now. That last drawing, if you remove the nose, the eyes are actually connected. What the hell is wrong with people in your world?

I know there's better artists out there I'm still essentially learning and I wasn't especially pleased with my last drawing either (I found her pupils are somewhat out of alignment and her skull too narrow, with a odd jawline). It was doodle done in a rush and I'm trying my best to draw realistic people (there's roughly a space between eyes the width of an eye).

Some of my photography...

Here is my latest offering...I really should come into this thread more because there is some great talent here, especially TSQ.

Anyway it's my fathers belated christmas gift. He is a huge railroad fan, so I decided to paint a train going through his favorite train watching spot, the crest of a large hill in our home town. I did a little research on the area and found that in the 1930's, the train one would most likely see is a Boston and Albany freight train, since the mainline runs right into Boston. These were generally pulled by A-1a Berkshire locomotives, which were actually designed for pulling freight through western MA.

The painting was done in a acrylics for the most part, with some shading and weathering effects done in oil afterwards. Hope you all enjoy!

Your painting talent is... intimidating. Well done Tom Servo.

I'm still pottering away (trying not screw up my eyes):

Tom Servo, that is amazing!

It always goes completely beyond my comprehension how people can paint like that. Awesome work.

Tom Servo, your painting skill is delicate and subtle; my paintings are so-far lumpy and garish:
