My quick drawings of the three main villains from the recent sci-fi novel Surface Detail (Iain M. Banks):

Made a new painting today, it's quite small (3x5 inches) and still wet, so not the best picture ever. I'm thinking of trying to capitalize on my Native American half, and selling "(semi)Traditional Native American arts and crafts." Anyway:

I love it.
Thanks guys! I haven't painted much since last summer when I first started, so it's actually only my 8th painting to date. I'm really still learning.Made a new painting today, it's quite small (3x5 inches) and still wet, so not the best picture ever. Reminds me of the painting I use to see when I lived-in Alaska. Very beautiful!
Well, that's kind of what I'm going for -- traditional Indian art isn't done in oils either. I want to do it with my own style. I'm only semi Native American, after all (half) so my art will be only semi Native American too.The colors used aren't all typically found in Pacific Northwest tribal art (or at least green isn't usually anywhere near so prevalent) but there are still enough stylistic elements present that that influence is quite clear.

It's appropriate that Raven should have some fun in him. And he's carrying the sun in his beak!I did another tonight (it'll look better when it's dry, but that takes like two weeks), of the raven. I admit, he's a bit cheesy, but I had fun painting him!
Indeed! It's a wonderful story, after all. It's appropriate that Raven should have some fun in him. And he's carrying the sun in his beak!I did another tonight (it'll look better when it's dry, but that takes like two weeks), of the raven. I admit, he's a bit cheesy, but I had fun painting him!
That's great. If you wanted it to be a little surreal, she could be sitting on a giant lily pad, with her legs half visible on the left to match the flow of the body art.I've started another, though she's obviously not finished. I haven't decided what she's sitting on yet. I'm thinking of putting her on a little stool, so you can see her legs, because I don't want her to look like a quadruple amputee!
