"The Nevers" is cancelled. Remaining episodes won't air.

I remeber watching the trailer, it looked such a mess. so not surprised it got canceled, but mid season? Wow that's a new low.

1. Early in the production, the producer was revealed to be a racist, sexist pervert, who was cancelled and will never work in the industry again.

2. HBO and Discovery merged. EVERYTHING is being cancelled for no reason.

3. The show is fucking spectacular. Episode 6 will blow up your faith in firm ground.

It’s disappointing it got canceled, it was at least entertaining. But confusing with the episodes already wrapped they wouldn’t just drop them on the streaming service. Is there some marginal cost associated with just putting them online or is this strictly one of those obnoxious anti-consumer brand control moves?

I'd guess that they are selling half their servers, or only renting half as many servers, rather than figuring out how to knit Discovery and HBO's server farms together.

No, they're reducing what and who they pay money residuals (for streaming episode availability) to.

Reducing the amount of media they have by half, means that they have half the media, and need half the servers.

It's a knock on effect.

If you clear your garage of half the shit you are hoarding, you finally have room for your second family, or you can keep paying their exorbitant rent elsewhere.

Cool. It'd be a shame not to see the finished episodes. Hopefully it'll land somewhere I can see it before too long.

Not if they want to charge again for the new service. Keeping you unaware you are already paying that entity is key to the scam working.
Tubi paid 30 million dollars for the streaming rights of The Nevers for 18 months.

(I made those numbers up.)

It's hardly a scam.

I find it more likely that Tubi had some bullshit that was not making them any money, and they horse traded.

This is nuts, it appears if you go to the Tubi app at the times listed on their live TV channel you can watch it. However this isn’t the premiere, this is the only airing!!! At least for the moment it seems. I may possibly free at 2:40p EST tomorrow but that’s insane…

I guess I missed the viewing window for the first three today

I hope they filmed an ending I can't see a season 2 being made.
The article quotes Philippa Goslett, showrunner... 'As far as the back half of the season is concerned, she teased that the finale would feel “satisfyingly cathartic” for fans who’ve stuck with the show through to its untimely end. “There are definitely story elements and character dynamics there which were intended to push into future seasons,” she acknowledged. “I believe that we bring this one to what feels like a natural close.”'
