"The Nevers" is cancelled. Remaining episodes won't air.

And it's also going to be pulled off of HBOMax along with Westworld.
I still haven't gotten around to checking this out, but if they're pulling it, then I might not even bother. I go slow, there's a pretty good chance they'd probably pull it on me before I finished.

Damn, that sucks...

There's only six but they'll probably be gone by morning.

but it now has the distinction of being the latest HBO series to be cancelled with a bunch of completed episodes likely to remain unbroadcast.
Though as the article itself says, "Sources close to the situation say it’s possible that the already finished batch of episodes — which were completed under new showrunner Philippa Goslett, who came on board following the exit of Whedon before the show even debuted — will air on another platform."

Hopefully. Unless the back half ends on a cliffhanger, in which case maybe I'd be happier if they stay shelved.

I was watching Werewolf by Night, and thinking "Who is this beautiful woman?"

Its only 6 episodes.

@JD, just buckle up, and get 'er done.

I'm going to start watching the Nevers now, and I'll tell you when I'm finished.

I have my wife being needy, and I got to get or make dinner soon, so it's not going to be a 6 hour long undistracted block.

Starting from Now!

What is the point in HBOmax if they're going to pull their own content on it. Imagine Netflix removing it's own shows from it's service.

HBO and Discovery just merged.

They have to make room for each other on a single probably even smaller, sleaker platform.

Warner is basically bleeding money. Fairly certain this is all part of a plan to streamline all their licensing agreements (i.e. basically shed them so that all there is on the service is what they own outright) so that HBOMax can be more easily sold.

I googled to see how right you are.

A year ago HBO and Discovery merged.

They will be producing a new streaming app next year that combines existing subscriptions.

The new App/Service is going to be called Max.

Pepsi may chose to sue.

They have merged, yes, and the plan is, in part, to clearly appears to be to pull the plug on everything and anything that's not what they consider a flagship property (Most of DC) and then make up the difference with Discovery Network's cheap reality/home and lifestyle programming. After that, they'll try to sell it for $20 a month minimum and, at that point, I'm out My subscription is cancelled.

But the point is to have everything nice and bundled so they can cut it loose cleanly and focus once again on films and on television licensing.

This is sort of the reason that Viacom wouldn't mind selling Paramount+, but there are no takers and won't be before '24 when many of the agreements they are under with others expire. P+ has so many side agreements for their content, with the Trek films on Max for now, and Yellowstone shared with Universal and airing on Peacock, among others. No one will buy a streamer that's sharing its content here, there, and everywhere. The buyer won't want to deal with the contracts and it's too expensive to buy them out early.

But Discovery Max is going to be wrapped up for sale with a nice bow on top by June.

If they can make nice with Netflix it would be a good home for the show with the only issue maybe being that Netflix has so many shows like this it might get lost over there.

Half way through the pilot, went across the road for Burgers, watched two shitty episodes of Full House, and now the wife is screaming because there's an episode missing from anime smut she watches that is not illegal yet, and I have to panic stations to sort out her piece of mind, before I take the garbage out to the basement.

"Sigh"

1 hour 20 minutes, and I'm still less than half way through the pilot.

Who'd buy it though? It's not like the first half was a big hit.

The wife fell asleep watching her fourth episode of Jeapordy, an then I rolled my sleeves up and got down to business.

Done.

It's 4.35 am and I feel terrible, but I finished all 6 episodes.

The fight in the river, in episode 3, was spectacular.

They're both still up, and they're not included in the last chance page, which goes up to the 31st, so I'm not sure when they're actually being pulled.

Yeah, I wish the whole cast didn't have to lose their jobs because the boss is a creep.

Laura Donnely is also in "Brittaina" and "Werewolf by Night" by the way. I like her.

One would think that, when a company has a universally recognized brand name (HBO) that is associated with hit movies, quality TV programming and mainstream entertainment, the smart move would be to roll everything into that name and call the service/app "HBO"...but Hollywood gotta Hollywood I guess.

Not if they want to charge again for the new service. Keeping you unaware you are already paying that entity is key to the scam working.
