i thought it might be fun to keep a running list of the music thats been featured within the series, it seems to be one of those shows with an unexpected playlist.
 
The song that bookended episode 1x09: "Life"...

Another one from epiosde 1x09: "Life"... It's the song that played when Camile Wray got to spend some time with Sharon.

In the opening few seconds of "Life" (and the into to the song) my roomate said "Frak yeah!" to the Flogging Molly.
Awesome song. It seems they're playing tunes that fit mood on artistic basis, rather then what's "pop" (see: smallville's early years)
 
The song was a good one and it should have fit well, but I couldn't work out why it was such a bad day. They've got food, water, a hydroponics bay, plenty of free time, showers, lights, bi-weekly visits to Earth, and unlimited power. The song didn't fit with what we were shown.
 
I believe it was meant to be somewhat ironic. They've all begun adapting to life on the ship, but the situation still sucks, even if they're making the best of it (which also fits in with the song having downbeat lyrics and an upbeat tempo). And then in the end, Crazy Marine had run out of pills, Young's probably being cuckolded, Scott has a little bastard running around, and everyone's pissed off about the false hope of getting home, but they're all just relying on the little things to get through the day.
 
It was a much more effective use of a song than the one that ended Air, Part III. But, then again, you couldn't get much more on the nose than that.
 
anyone have a list of all artist/songs that have appeared so far, maybe we can keep a running thread since its so early in the show.

Thanks to all for posting the links to the songs here.

I wouldn't be surprised if they put out a CD of the songs used on Stargate. Although the regular music shouldn't be ignored as well.

Same here. The occasional pop song is okay, but they're seriously overdoing it. I just loved the theme in Air III and I wish they would do more original score. They've managed to make it memorable without sounding like a BSG ripoff.
