The Motorcycle Cop (Spoilers, maybe)

He sure had a narrow head if he was a human wearing that mask/helmet and the whole thing was only that wide....
Yeah. Clearly instead of giving a guy a futuristic desert cop outfit who did absolutely nothing outlandish whatsoever, they spent millions upon millions of dollars creating a CGI person. I think you nailed it there.

Desert cop? In Iowa?

He was a badass robot cop, like Captain Robau was badass. Therefore, he is Robau Cop!

:guffaw:

Also, what do you mean, "androids weren't wandering around Earth in that age"? First, no one said anything about androids - we said "robot". And second, we know that sentient humaniform androids weren't anything approaching common - but that says nothing about non-sentient humaniform robots (entertainment bots, for example, which we're close to having now), or non-sentient non-humaniform humanoid robots (which we definitely have now).
What the hell do you think an android is? Hint: A robot with a human form. In the Trek universe, neither are common, let alone replacing humanoids in regular, everyday jobs. Especially ones that require a brain, intuition, and compassion. You know, like a cop.

And finally, common sense is also usually accompanied by a little common courtesy in how one addresses people. I haven't seen anyone else who seemed to have an actual beef with this discussion. What's yours?
A low tolerance for stupidity.

while robots looking like humans were not common they did have automation..
some of the slow speed frieghters did not have crews for instance.

oh yeah
robau cop..
good one
:)

But you're right; they were trying to get away with Iowa as California. Sandy soil everywhere the big tip off, if one hadn't already read about locations.

When the cop gets off the bike, he has a swagger almost. I think that it is a human in a mask. Maybe the mask replaces all the computer equipment and monitoring stuff inside modern police cars.

Kirk is living in City 17 and that was a Half Life 2 cop..."citizen!" . Kirk is rebeling against the Combine!

I dunno ... any one got a slice of bread?
'cuz this one's looking kinda like a toaster to me.

But why would they make it look/sound so classically 'robo' if it's human(oid)??

It's funny that Starfleet made such a big deal over Data. The Exo III androids, Rayna Kapec, Jullianna Soong, and this 'motorcycle robot' were already in existence long before him! LOL

i think it is a person in mask..

Agreed. The mast definitely appears to be designed to keep dust out of the person's eyes/mouth (and yet optimize vision, breathing and speech) esp for someone flying at high speeds on a motorcycle

Doesn't look even remotely "robo" to me. It has the desert/arctic-style goggles to reduce the glare of the terrain (you know, just like the Tuskan Raiders in Star Wars) and the gas-mask style vents to filter out the sand kicked up as he goes blasting along on his hoverbike. The voice amplifier looks to have standard sci-fi gadgetry over it to make it look "futuristic" and he has a laser distancer built into the goggles.

Since people will likely skip the important part of this post: Robots don't need to breath.

Oh noes! More robots!: Link, Link, Link! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!
