Soran's whole plan about getting back to the Nexus is absurd, dispite the fact that ships are destroyed by it, who cares? Everyone on the ships are snatched up by the nexus, so screw the ship! Why wait 80 years to fulfill your greatest fantasy and kill billions of people when you actually can just fly the freakin' ship into it!?!?!

And where was it written or shown that EVERYONE is "snatched" up by the Nexus? Sure there is a line referenced by Scotty that the life signs were phasing in and out of the space-time continuum, but why the hell are you so sure that they all made it in there? what if they are phasing in at the same time the ship blows to pieces?....![]()

Well we know Guinan and Soran made it in. Why would she and Soran make it in but not others?
Yeah, ST III suffers from being the "middle child" between Khan and the whales, but it's still a fun movie in its own right. And, hey, it brought it back Mark Lenard as Sarek for the first time in the movie series.
Another way to look at the special effects is to remember that the special effects for the original were never "stellar." Even after seeing Star Wars and modern special effects in recent years, (not considering the remastered original Treks), Most of us here still love TOS, and value it as a true classic.
So the shoddy special effects of STV are only so much of a problem, IMHO.

I think Undiscovered Country. For me it shares the #1 spot with WOK. It rarely gets any attention at all.
