The Most Obscure Trek Factoids Ever

Walls for Admiral Nogura's office for Phase II was actually constructed. The wall panels were repurposed to be the cargo container "slots" in the TMP cargo deck (the set plans for the office appear in the Phase II book).

Lucille Ball owned Desilu Studios and she had to green light Star Trek's production. And at first she apparently thought Star Trek was a show about a sea cruise with Hollywood celebrities or something.

You mean where the Sheliak ship approaches the E after they beam Picard and troi back? Have you got a source for that?

Just recently, I guess , MA changed their tune and said that no one has confirmed the shot is CGI as it was very expensive to do at the time. They now speculate it is the n2-foot model. However, I look at this picture and can't help but think that someone whipped it up on a computer before deadline.
You can judge for yourself

Doesn't look CGI to me, just small and plastic. It's the terrible proportions and total lack of detail that are making people thing it's a bad computer model, but when you look at what CGI on TNG actually looked like over its run, even later CGI looks worse than that.

The effects that you linked to are actually pretty good.

The pic I posted.. look at it. It doesn't look like the Galaxy Class is even in the correct proportions. The neck is too erect yet somehow the saucer tilts down a bit.

yeah. it could just be an optical illusion based on the curves of the design, but it does look odd to my eyes as well.

Here's a vague recollection of an obscure fact that maybe someone can help me with: It seems that at some point I heard there were one or more props from the Adam West Batman series in the background of one or more TOS episodes.

Does anyone know if that's true? And/or have specifics?

Yeah, Yvonne Craig.

Not to mention Julie Newmar!

And Lee Meriwether. And Joan Collins. And probably a few others I'm forgetting right now.

While he was only credited as "?????" on the show, The Menagerie's Malachi Throne also played False Face on Batman. Roger C. Carmel was also the villain in the Batman/Green Hornet two-parter.

Which reminds me... Roddy McDowell would've made a GREAT guest star on TOS.
