The most mind-blowing soundtrack we've ever had...

I really loved the soundtrack to Trailer #3. that kind of clinched this thing for me. before that, I was meh. after I heard that and watched the trailer -- I was like holeee sheeeet!! I gotta go watch this movie!!!
Ah, yes. That would be "Freedom Fighters" from Two Steps from Hell. It easily owns almost all other trailer music I've heard (even from TSFH).

Never underestimate a good trailer. A LOT of people I know were sold on ST09 based solely on that trailer. The Lion King trailer, even after all these years, is still quite moving and is still a benchmark.

yep. it's really good. and it can be found online with a bit of creativity ;)

*cough*youtube*cough*

Even the theme for ENTERPRISE had its own video(with Russell Watson singing on-screen). So anything can and DOES happen with Trek music.

I was exactly the same. Before the trailer, I had vague thoughts to see it at some point. Then the trailers began, and I knew I had to see that opening weekend, and would not last one day longer than that. And so I did. Lived up to expectations completely. The sky-diving clip hooked me especially.

The weakest track comparatively speaking is probably "Nice to Meld You" and even it is pleasant to sit through.

Soundtrack was neither superb or terrible, but fairly good and serviceable with a couple of really nice tracks.

TMP still the one to beat though.

And, am I the only one that got visions of being at Hogwarts at various points? Got definite "Harry Potter" vibes from some parts of the score.

I didn't like the titles at first but when you look at Giacchino's other soundtrack entries for other movies and TV shows they are no worse...and I don't care 1/100th as much about WHAT a track is called as I do whether or not it sounds great.

Just remembering something I saw a week or two back, over in the GTD forum, where someone took that music track and synced it to a sequence from the end of The Voyage Home. Did a nice job of it, too, I thought.

I confess, that was me. ;)

I actually have a better version of it that I might put on youtube. Not sure if that's overkill or not.

That track is probably the best cue of the year. I love the reveal of the Enterprise, and the usage of it in the title is stunning. That main title is beautiful.

Whew. Watching that really makes me miss Mark Lenard. He was just perfect. Ben Cross really didnt do anything for me.
