The most mind-blowing soundtrack we've ever had...

An Officer

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Enterprising Young Men has to be right up there with the very best of Alexander Courage... it makes me wanna stand up with conductor's stick in hand and get right into it. I've had it on loop for days now... I think I might be in heaven. *Sigh*

The percussions, right at the very end, especially - holy fucking fuck!

That sounded... um, a bit off.

But the meaning is clear.

I agree that the music was just fantastic... the accompaniment to George Kirk sacrificing himself so that his wife/child/crew could live was very memorable.

Be careful with the conductor's stick...

^ Yeah, ouch! :p

I've become rather used to that with my topics. I used to put a disclaimer on them years ago - now, I've just given up.

Anyway, if you have a powerful enough mp3 player to blast that shit out, it can take your breath away.

Enterprising Young Men is indeed a stunning track. The way it's used for the Enterprise reveal and of course the title card was literally jaw-droppingly fantastic. Plus all the other instances.

I hope that theme is the 'NuTrek Theme' and will be used in the sequels.

Exactly my thoughts. I think it has the quality to stick around for a long time.

I wasn't able to pick up on it the first viewing, but by the second, I could anticipate it, and it enhanced my experience to another level.

I like Enterprising Young Men quite a lot.

But once the newness of it wears off I'm sure that Stealing the Enterprise, Battle in the Mutara Nebula and Genesis Countdown will still be at the top of my list of favorite Trek musical cues.

I've been listening to the Star Trek 09 score, along with those for TMP, TWOK, TSFS, and TUC on schuffle. They all fit very well together. I may have to do my own Star Trek mashup one of these days.

TWOK is starting on HBO, guys. plus, there's Smokin' Aces on USA at 11pm EST.

just putting it out there, in case anyone's interested ;)

I should do a Trek-TV thread here :p

anyway, yes, I love the little triad of Labor of Love/Hella Bar Talk/Enterprising Young Men. have had it on a loop in my car, work and home PCs and ipod for days now.

HBO?!?

Hmmm... I thought that was the pay cable network for R-ish rated movies.

Is there lost footage of Yeoman Rand(y)?

Wonder how a new Trek series would do on that network, what with Dexter and other shows prospering...

I won't be relegated to the soundtrack until the movie leaves town. Then I will need it, bad.

I find that Enterprising young men, anything with nero in the title, labour of love, and The End Credits/To boldly go is up there with TMP's soundtrack

I liked the hints of a Western theme in the soundtrack here and there that harkens back to the "Wagontrain to the Stars" imagery.

While the soundtrack was truly excellent and I can't say one negative word about it (shocking, I know) I cannot yet rank it up there with Alexander Courage.
