Spoiler alert?

It's toodleypipsky for "Loud As A Whisper" as contender of the most generic story. While the basic plot is generic (mediator to work with warring factions), the twists are that the mediator himself is deaf, how he uses that as a means to get the two factions to work to overcome their differences, his chorus (which arguably was also an influence for "Herman's Head", when's that complete series DVD set coming out) was a nice breakdown of psychological attributes (even Mr. Horny was largely kept without getting excessive in the way season 1 would have wrecked it)... the chorus gets killed off so now he has to find a new way of doing things, Data and Troi get some good moments... It's rather an underrated episode on top of being rather innovative.
