The Most Disliked TNG Episode - Season 1...

Farscape One

Admiral
Admiral
This is a twist on a game that is played here, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

I will get the ball rolling by saving "The Arsenal of Freedom". I thought this was one of the best uses of the entire cast, particularly so early in the life of the series. (Wesley being the only exception, but understandable given nature of the mission.)

Heart of Glory - some really effective character stuff that moved Worf beyond being just the vaguely angry Klingon guy who stood behind Picard.

"Skin Of Evil" So important in giving stakes to the rest of the series. A rare fantastic use of Troi and her powers. Armus creeps me out. It's my current season one go-to ep.

Why not just do a poll for the most disliked episode? Most votes wins.

Doing it this way will result in the least liked episode which is not necessarily the same as the most disliked.

But whatever, it's fun either way. :)

I'm getting rid of 11001001, the empty Enterprise was creepy, I remember the dramatic music during the evacuation and of course the unexpected callback to this episode in Future Imperfect elevates it even more. The Binars were interesting characters too, I would have liked to see them again at so e point and how reactions to them would have changed after encountering the borg.

Conspiracy is a successful blend of horror, science-fiction, and mystery. It's one of Star Trek's riskiest episodes and it holds up rewatch after rewatch. I liked how Picard and Riker saved the day at the end, working together like Kirk and Spock. Conspiracy is the antithesis of the stereotype of TNG as a milquetoast talkfest. TNG could have used more episodes with exploding heads!

I will save "Home Soil". I love the idea of nonhumanoid aliens, and how can you not love their description of humans?

I will save Where No One Has Gone Before. First visit by traveller, exploring new space.

The Battle, which is probably TNG's most successful attempt at using the Ferengi as straightforward villains.

The Big Goodbye must be good. It was only remade on just about every series that followed. The fact that Data asked Picard permission to slug Mr. Leach is undeniable proof that he has emotions.

Datalore, Lore is an effective villain and the episode gave us a classic "Shut up, Wesley" ... even of Wesley was 100% right and everyone else acted a bit stupid, still a fun episode though.

"Angel One" is a fun trainwreck. Probably my current favorite Trash TNG ep ("Sub Rosa" has ceded that crown, after a very long reign).

I'll save Encounter at Farpoint. It really drags in the second half, but the first half ends up setting the direction for the next seven years pretty effectively, and even John de Lancie does a lot to shore up the Farpoint sections of the storyline.

Removing Coming Of Age. As absurd as the academic battle royale is for an entrance exam, at least it’s interesting.

I rewatch "The Last Outpost" more than any of these. So much funnier than most of DS9's intentional Ferengi comedy!

I think Symbiosis is an underrated show with mystery, surprises, good alien conflict, strong guest stars, and a powerful ethical dilemma. And I don't see what's so bad about Tasha's drug speech. Im giving Symbiosis some love!

I'll save When the bough breaks, I don't dislike it, it's an okay episode. Everything else remaining is worse.

Too Short a Season, since I do like the idea of Starfleet captains treating the Prime Directive as something with loopholes and different interpretations, instead of some sacred law.
