Game The Most Disliked Season Finale

THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes/movies from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

THE RULES: Below is a list of the season finales for every Star Trek season thus far.

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best' of what currently remains.
Post something you enjoy about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

As you get down the list, you might have to reach more and more for something to enjoy about an episode, and it's OK to eventually save episodes for being "less bad."

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

You can take multiple turns.

Leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

New players are always welcome, you do not have to already be a "most disliked game" regular to dive in.

I will begin with a sentimental favorite and save "Time's Arrow, Part I" - the first finale cliffhanger I got to experience in original air, as I picked up TNG during season 5 initially. I can still so clearly recall that moment sitting in the living room when they all walked into the time portal and then TO BE CONTINUED...

They really knew how to do it with those "To Be Continued..." title cards. Serialized TV needs to bring that back every week.

The previous two saved were exactly the ones I'd do next.

So now I will save "SCORPION".

By far, VGR's best season finale. The quick teaser of the two Borg cubes getting destroyed from just 4 quick shots... that was jaw dropping.

Adding in John Rhys-Davies as Leonardo da Vinci was icing on the cake. And the music for this episode was outstanding.

But the real cherry on top was the 'scorpion' scene with Chakotay and Janeway. One of the very rare times he not only stood up to her, but flat out told her she was wrong for going this route. (And I agreed with him.) If for no other reason this gets a save, that scene is it.

I feel like Quark in "Move Along Home." I CAN'T CHOOSE

I often go by the method of saving whatever I have on right now, under the premise that what I'm watching at that moment is clearly my favorite at that moment.

But right now I have "Shades Of Gray" on, and, though I do adore it, I can't save it before "First First Contact", which is truly one of the best Trek episodes ever made and which I have watched into.the. ground. And it never gets less exciting!

It was very bold to basically redo "BALANCE OF TERROR", a fan favorite and my personal favorite of TOS along with one other. But this was done really, really well. And while I am iffy on this Jim Kirk, it is still early.

What really worked is Pike and his acceptance of not just his fate, but that of two others. Anson Mount has been a real treasure for the franchise.

And it's goodbye to Lower Decks as I save "No Small Parts" Three seasons (so far) and three outstanding finales. This one didn't shy away from some disturbing scenes - the destruction of Solvang was shocking! It also gave us Peanut Hamper, Shaxs getting to do his thing and sacrificing himself, Titan, Riker and Troi, and all four of our Lower Deckers being AWESOME! Especially Rutherford

What a game changer, as the Dominion makes their presence fully known. Watching them take out a Galaxy class starship, easily no less, showed us they meant business.

I will save "In the Hands of the Prophets" from DS9. We get some great material with the Siskos, O'Briens, and Kira. It also introduces one of the most fascinating characters in Star Trek: Winn Adami. The way she calls Kira "child" or "my child" could be absolutely chilling.

Instead, I'll go for VOY: "Hope And Fear". I don't rewatch many episodes of Voyager, but this is always on my list. Poor Arturis, his grief had clearly sent him over the edge, and I don't think he deserved the end that he seemingly got. But Dauntless was awesome, and it did help to get our crew that much closer to home.
