Saving "Darmok".
Few episodes in the franchise so COMPLETELY encompass what STAR TREK is about at its core the way "Darmok" does.
@#&* you #@$!.....You totally @#&! ninja'd me!!!

)What's funny is I try to go in order of shows that aired... save one that is among my favorites, move to the next, then when one from each show has been saved by me, start going randomly of what I love on whatever is left.
The reason why this is funny is because "Kayshon, His Eyes Open" was already saved, which was going to be my very next one because I LOVED Kayshon and using a Tamarian on LOWER DECKS was genius. So I figured I would go back to where the Tamarians started, which is a phenomenal episode no matter what context or contest you put it in.
(If there was a ninja emoticon, I'd use it.)

- and yet the undercurrent and potential for a de-assimilated drone reclaiming humanity was utterly a terrific idea to explore. Like recovering from a cult. Season 4 may be "The Seven Show", but the themes and plotting are strong throughout - and all started with this gem of a two-parter that takes risks in using the Borg in a different way, complete with Jeri Ryan, who is quick to embrace the role and run with it. Whatever else happened behind the scenes with the actors, it doesn't show on screen - Seven and Janeway are probably my favorite Trek double-act for the "reclaiming humanity" theme.
~ Kayshon being the second would have been brilliant! As long as we still get the puppet version, thoughFew LD eps have had me laughing harder than "Kayshon, His Eyes Open." Bringing a Tamarian onto LD was inspired, they really pulled it off, Kayshon is a brilliant character.
They did miss something having him be the first Tamarian in Starfleet, though. We've had enough first-whatevers-in-Starfleet! LD is the perfect place for the SECOND whatever in Starfleet, who has a whole inferiority complex about it.
