I think "Alter Ego" is a cool episode. The resort holoprogram was never more effectively used, it's so creepy when it turns on them! The guest actress playing Marayna was phenomenal.

Well, since "His Way" has been saved and I do not know how to do spoiler tags, I will save one that is likely a bit more polarizing, TNG's Season 2 episode Manhunt.

I realize I like Lwaxana more than most. Her pursuit of Picard, Picard's use of Data to block her, and his eventual retreat into the holodeck to hide from her. Whereupon she switches to Riker. And then for a chatacter on the holodeck she does not know is not real.

I found the whole thing kind of funny. And also made me wonder why everyone does not marry Betazoid women (aside from them being able to read your mind).

And Lwaxana actually proves to be useful by offhandily saving the conference by revealing the Antedeans as assassins (they looked fishy to me, too).

Ha! I love that we had a pileup of "Manhunt" saves all at once. It's a better episode than it's rep suggests! I also love Lwaxana casually blowing up some big suspense plot in the last minute.

The Killing Game, Part I is saved, one of the rare interesting uses of a WW2 setting in Star Trek,

I love that there are so many WWII episodes of Star Trek that one can make such a statement.

I always liked "Manhunt", too. One of the funniest scenes with Picard on the show was him trying to alter the level of violence, only to end with him against the wall about to be blasted by a tommy gun.

I laugh every time I see that.

Plus, the very first time Robert O'Reilly appears...

OK, I will take another crack at it since Manhunt was already saved.

This time I will go with TAS's, the Practical Joker. It deserves credit for being the episode that gave rise to the holodeck (rec room). And the fact that one of it's practical jokes is the inking of the glasses thing on one of Spock's instruments so that when he looks through it, he has circles around his eyes!

I'm saving These are the Voyages, it wasn't a bad episode (except for Trips death) just a bad series finale and seeing Will, Deanna and the Enterprise D again was nice.

I must save "Cost Of Living." It is one of the first Trek episodes I ever saw (I started with all the hits... "Code Of Honor", "The Game", "Hero Worship" were all in the first 5), so I was too young to know better and still have fondness for it.

I also think some parts of it are legitimately good. There's some great Deanna/Lwaxana banter, and even some of the better Worf/Alexander material. I also think Lwaxana's big monologue about loneliness is incredible.

On the other hand, there are obviously plenty of reasons it's still here this late in the game. That Alexander reaction to Lwaxana's nudity is very UGH.

Also, it is SO CRAZY how the ship-jeopardy B story has the entire crew brought truly to the brink of death in what looks like it would be a terrifying experience -- and it doesn't even come up in the A story! It's not a blip in the wedding planning! Even children can just breeze past these brushes with death without a thought! (Though I guess I look somewhat more favorably on that now, as Lower Decks has mined such great comedy from the trope of the personal subplots continuing uninterrupted amidst all manner of terrifying space mayhem)

I look forward to seeing what sort of favorable comment someone manages about one of these...

Me too. Hell, "Fair Haven" went out a lot earlier than I expected. Still, "Spirit Folk" is a pretty righteous loser. I spent half the episode yelling, "Shut off the program, you morons!" (And just, you know, replicate Janeway a sex toy or something. No foolin', she looked bad in this episode.)

I was really hoping The Outrageous Okona would be last. It came really close, but not quite. Still, it was up against a worthy opponent at the end.

Both Fair Haven and TATV proved to unexpectedly have one fan, and that's all they needed.

I was thinking TATV would make it to the end, but Spirit Folk is a deserving winner. The Fair Haven program is not very well thought out, it's a bit tame compared to other programs seen. This actual episode is just full of stupid decisions.
