Game The Most Disliked Holiday Episode

Remember Me is an incredible episode the first time you see it... watching everyone disappear until finally no more Picard right there while Beverly is watching... freakout city!

Still pretty good on repeat views, too.

Yes. Most of the characters did something in this episode. I like that we never get a full explanation about the alien of the week.

I'm saving "House Of Quark" for the scene where Quark tries to explain double-entry bookkeeping to the Klingon High Council.

This list has more easy pickin's than my nose, but I'm going right for the gold:

KAL REKK & RUMARIE
VOY, Season 2: "Meld"

An early example of VOYAGER doing something genuinely novel and fresh, leading to a terrific performance by Tim Russ who utterly steals the show. Tuvok mind-melded with a Betazoid and had problems after disconnecting. Such as:

Dang, that's some good stuff. As much as I am not keen on typecasting, he'd make a damn good villain actor - underplaying villainy, not unlike Terrance Stamp's General Zod. (5 CinemaSins off...)

He also kills Neelix in a holographic simulation, too, so for those who enjoy hating Neelix here's a recap:

Damn good episode. Not because of the Neelix scene... though if you think Ethan Philips isn't a great actor (IMHO he is), check out "Menage a Troi" where he's the evil Ferengi scientist. Very creepy. No wonder Russ and Philips were chosen as they both have fantastic range and make a wonderful double-act. (As two characters, though I adored Tuvix too...)

"Emissary" What an incredible world they drop us right into with this pilot! I'd critique the weakness of the early conception of Dax, and the hamfistedness of Odo's backstory expo dump, and otherwise I think it's perfect!

That first face-off between Kira & Bashir is popping into my mind as a particularly great scene.

The answer is told right at the start and it goes over everyone's heads, which is brill. The mystery grows and the episode crafts its claustrophobia very nicely.

Really good effects as well, especially with the wind and the outside real universe opening up.

This scene that sets it all up rocks:

(Plus some edited highlights after that bit from the start.)

Absolutely marvelous* episode.

If nothing else, the name of the episode was taken by the makers after time traveling a decade into the future to watch "Futurama" and were so impressed that they took the name back with them:

* I'd say "Absolutely Fabulous" except I'd be tempted to do a marathon of that before "Remember Me" and "I, Borg". Any time they get Joanna Lumley to work opposite Kate O'Mara it's impossible not to laugh...

"In a Mirror, Darkly, Part 1" is one of Trek's most delicious triumphs of style ever, and the actors are clearly having a blast gnawing great chunks out of the scenery -- said scenery notably including a lovingly-reconstructed Constitution-class Defiant. And if it had none of that going for it, the opening credits alone would be enough to notch it a save!

I love what a slice of life "Bar Association" is. The confidence to just do this story with side characters where the only stakes are really their personal lives -- I love that they didn't feel they had to add a "high stakes" station jeopardy subplot to justify this episode.

It's a minor detail, but I love that the only references we get to Bashir/Leeta as a couple are them flirting at the end of season 3, this mid-season 4 ep establishing they are dating, and then the breakup at the start of season 5. DS9 was so good with stuff like that, keeping everyone's off-camera lives full, but not feeling they had to show us every little beat of every single thing going on. All these characters had full lives and they just showed us the most interesting stuff. It made it all feel so real. DS9 was such a great show!

Alice was nicely creepy, kind of like "Christine" in space, and though it would have been better as a two-parter, I enjoy periodically rewatching it.

I'm saving The Magicks of Megas Tu. It's got a lot of wacky stuff that pushed the severe limitations the show had in terms of animation. It's really trippy in a lot of parts in fact. Plus, it aired an Halloween. Perfect.

I'll save Firstborn. Alexander was an annoying addition to the TNG cast, but Worf as a single father was an interesting dynamic, and at least here they had someone else to bounce off of. And this episode has the ever-reliable guest star James Sloyan.

I agree Alexander was quite annoying in general. I think he was ok in Firstborn, Rascals and You Are Cordially Invited.

I'm saving "Two Days And Two Nights". 22nd Century Risa just really fitted with what we'd seen/heard of Risa in the other shows and I thought it was an example of Enterprise working fine as a prequel show.

I cannot allow the delightful "Fascination" to linger any longer. What a great idea for a holiday, too! One of these days I'm going to have to write all my problems down on a scroll and then burn it.
