"False Profits" did a decent job of picking up the loose end "The Price" laid down, and I thought the society the two marooned, and none-too-bright, Ferengi created was cute and funny. Also, props to Ethan Phillips playing Neelix as a fake Ferengi.

I'm saving "Captain's Holiday" purely for the sparkle and verve that Jennifer Hetrick as Vash brings to TNG. Her chemistry with Picard/Patrick Stewart was almost overwhelming (weren't they engaged irl at one point?) and they made an entertaining couple.
Oh, and I really liked Deanna's little fib about Lwaxana visiting to get Picard to take the vacation

I actually quite liked Bloodlines. I actually thought the idea of Picard having a secret son would have been interesting and if they had decided to reveal him as such then somebody like Jason Vigo, who's so unlike Picard's world of Starfleet and the Federation, and both uninterested in fully assimilating into it, and probably too old to join Starfleet would have been the perfect character.
I also quite liked the actor. And it was quite and interesting plot, making the Ferengi actually viable antagonists.
In the end though I'm glad they didn't make him Picard's son, because that would have just led to the PTB killing him off in Generations, along with Robert and Rene.
Ditched a bullet there, Jason!

Today I found out I probably have covid-19 (still waiting for the official confirmation), so, my attention being directed towards different things, I'm a bit late to the game.

Of those episodes that are still left, I'd like to eliminate DS9 Season 5: “Ferengi Love Songs”. A moderately amusing episode, even if a bit trite in some places (and, of course, suffering from small-universe-syndrome... what are the odds that the Grand nagus would into Quark's mom by sheer coincidence, even if she is really that brilliant?)

I was just writing a save for "Ferengi Love Songs" myself! I've always had a soft spot for that one. (Sorry about the probable Covid diagnosis!)

Instead I'll save Prodigy's "First Con-tact."

I thought this one was pretty fucking cool. Those crystal aliens were so neat. I also love how the female Daimon in a Ferengi marauder in the Gamma Quadrant at first seems like a mega-continuity error, but when you think about it a minute it all explains itself... Nandi is another Pel, a Ferengi female who struck out for the GQ to seek better opportunities for herself. Nandi just had a stolen ship and gave herself a Daimon title.

Oh I was already thinking that while I wrote my message and it made me dream of a version of PIC were Picard travels on a ship with Jason as the captain. Though who knows what Chabon would have done with him...

I consider killing Rene to be one of the worst creative decisions in the entirety of the franchise.

My final vote for this game is "Menage a Troi". Hearing Stewart recite Shakespeare is always a joy.

I refuse to vote for the rest. Two are abysmal, and the other is not much better.

It is legit the worst episode of DS9. Even "LET HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN..." has one thing to justify its existence... the why of Worf.

The only nice thing to say about "Profit & Lace" is that the cast really gave it their all. Obviously, with a script this outrageously offensive, there was nothing to be done, but I always have to respect committed acting. A fitting winner!

Yep. A bit like TNG's The Outcast, it did nothing for the LGBTQ community. Profit and Lace went one further and sold it all for comedy. I mean Armin Shimerman did his best with the material, but meh.

A worthy loser, anyway.

The true victims of "Profit and Lace" were the women's rights advocates. The message of that abomination was:
1. You don't gain female equality by years of hard work by legions of determined women... you gain it by one woman banging the big boss. Hell, maybe if Susan B. Anthony had gone to Washington and seduced Andrew Johnson, women would gave gotten the vote in 1866.
2. Women are too incapable of gaining their rights on their own, so if you want to get it done, you'll just have to transform a man into one.
