THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

THE RULES: Below is a list of episodes from TNG, DS9, and VOY written by Ronald D. Moore.

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best.’
Post something you love about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

Eliminating TNG Season 7: "All Good Things..." (written with Brannon Braga)

A very strong series finale, even if it perhaps has a few minor flaws (in terms of logical consistency of the story and recreating S1 details). A powerful closure of the 7 year exploration mission of the Enterprise crew and the Q arc, started in Encounter at Farpoint, highlighting both the differences between the S1 and the S7 crew, showing how relations between the crew members formed and evolved over those 7 years, while also showing that life goes on; all these characters live their own life after having served their term on Enterprise, even if the particular future we saw did not materialize. Also a sweet parting scene when captain Picard finally joins the poker table, while Deanna ensures him that 'he was always welcome'.

Ronald D. Moore is a quality writer. Lot's of great stuff here (though I think his work outside Trek is better than any of it).

Hmmmm...

I choose Relics. Elegiac, tragic, affirming and beautiful all at once. Gorgeous stuff. Lovely for Jimmy Doohan to get a real showcase and his interactions with Geordi are lovely.

Plus, a corner of the TOS bridge lovingly recreated.

It's a love letter and I love it.

[Farscape One]

Very hard to pick. He wrote a LOT of damned good episodes.

Some that I would have started with have already been saved, so I think I'll start with another easy save... "TACKING INTO THE WIND".

This episode had possibly the most difficult job in the final arc, because it not only had to keep the arc flowing, but needed to resolve other things, yet still be it's own thing.

Moore did it PERFECTLY! And more than that, he tied up an ongoing arc that started 10 years ago!

The script was just perfect, including a sobering conversation about the Empire with Worf. And one of my favorite scenes of the series was Damar getting news of his family's death, and Kira's response. Talk about a splash of cold water.

Add in great directing by Mike Vejar, great performances from everyone, and adding Garak as the cherry on top? Quite possibly THE best episode of season 7, even a contender for best of the series.

[Seven of Five]

It's a shame things didn't work out for him on VOY (I even sometimes wonder if he had still been around by then, what his take on ENT would have been.

Barge of the Dead is a great episode. I love the relationship between Janeway and B'Elanna throughout the series, and this is a key episode. The ship of the dead is an awesome set as well.

One of the most low-key episodes ever written. You could be forgiven when channel hopping at the time for not even realising you were watching Star Trek.

The ultimate small story that wrestles with much bigger issues.

Stewart is a powerhouse in this one too.

It's just so unique. There's nothing else quite like it in the history of the franchise.

Saving "ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREACH".

Like with what he did in "Relics", Moore took a character at a late point in their life and made it about the need to be useful. Added bonus of Kor tackling a fading memory. I LOVE this episode for two big reasons.

First, it was a perfect sendoff for Kor, one of the best Klingons ever. Second, it's the only Klingon episode my wife liked. (She REALLY does not like them. She says they are caricatures and are ridiculous.)
