The MOST Disliked Episode of VOYAGER - Season Two...

Farscape One

Admiral
Admiral
This is a twist on a game that is played here, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I am very curious to see the results.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, wait six hours and leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

I will start season 2 with a season 1 holdover, "PROJECTIONS". I think this was the best of the 4 holdover episodes from season 1.

Not only was it a great concept, but it was executed beautifully. Excellent directing by Frakes, and brilliantly acted by Picardo. It is one of my favorite Doctor episodes, and a favorite episode of the franchise. This was Brannon Braga (solo writing) at his best.

Saving Persistence of Vision since it's one of my top 5 eps for season 2, and it may not get the love from others that it gets from me...

Death Wish. The subsequent Q outings on this show weren't up to much IMO, but this one was pretty nice, and our first look at the Q Continuum itself is a nice bit of surrealism.

One of the things I liked most about season 2 of Voyager was the recurring storylines involving Seska, the Kazon, and especially Suder. For that reason, I'll save Meld, Suder's introduction. A great episode with Tuvok getting the spotlight and Suder was a fascinating character for Voyager to have to deal with.

A poor season in my opinion. I'll save Resistance for Joel Grey's lovely performance.

"Tuvix" was well acted, said something interesting about Tuvok and Neelix, and forced Janeway into a moral dilemma she couldn't sneak her way around.

My favorite thing about "PERSISTENCE OF VISION" was the ending. Sometimes, it's nice to just have a mystery at the end, leaving more questions than answers.

"DEATH WISH" might be my favorite Q episode. Definitely a highlight of the series.

"MELD" was always a favorite of mine. Brad Dourif is a superb actor, and he does not disappoint here. The episode was a great look at the nature of violence. Also, an excellent Tuvok showcase.

That sudden-full-stop ending is unsatisfying, abrupt, and jarring every time, but otherwise "Dreadnought" is an awesomely tense hour. Fantastic work from Roxann Dawson.

I agree with you completely about "DREADNOUGHT".

I agree with you completely about "DREADNOUGHT".

Something like the "Dreadnought" issue might be my Voyager issue at large, which is that the other shows have numerous episodes that I think succeed perfectly in executing their ambitions, but on Voyager, even the best episodes have something off, some small but significant flaw. "I love this one! Except for that abrupt ending..." "This one is a classic! Though Beltran does blow the most important scene..." "This one is cool! If you can buy that we never heard of this crewmember before..."

I will save "THE THAW". I think clowns are creepy as hell, and The Clown played by Michael McKean was brilliantly done. The atmosphere of the ship was chilling, too. Great directing all around, and wonderful performances across the board.

This is a great episode about the nature of fear. I love Janeway's appreviation of fear at the end.

We are in agreement about this series. It's like it just misses the bullseye, but so very close to it.

I like several of these episodes, but I don't know if there is a "must save" for me at this point. I think I'll go with Investigations, partly because it advances the Seska arc, but mainly because A Briefing With Neelix is just the sort of oddball thing a crew lost on the other side of the galaxy would have to come up with to entertain themselves.

I hate "Investigations", but I love this reason for saving "Investigations." :bolian:

Season 2 is what made Timothy W. Lynch quit reviewing Voyager. It was that bad.

Already getting to the point where I'm struggling to pick out any especially good episodes. I'll vote for Deadlock, which was at least a good action piece.

I'll remove Basics. It's got some issues but it's a competent execution of a realized season arc.
